Hey guys. I need a 195-55-15 tire for my 99 civic si. Will be used year round in NY (long island). Light snow, nothing crazy but still snow. I made it 2 winters with bald dunlop fm-901's and i wont do that ever again. (skidded off the road once at 2 mph).
How are these in the snow? I had to sell my other set of rims so these will have to be used year round. I am most concerned about there performance in the snow for my safety but would like a decent tire for the summer. Car is daily driven no racing. How do the kumho ecsta asx's sound?
Thanks

I'm not a huge fan of all-season tires for most people, because people in areas that don't experience winter conditions don't need them, and people in areas that do experience winter conditions might prefer to have two sets of tires, one with true winter tires which will give better performance in winter and the other with summer tires which will give better performance the rest of the year. But if you have to get all-season tires - and it sounds like they make sense for your situation - then the Kumho Ecsta ASX is about as good as any all-season tire on the market, and priced attractively too. It's the all-season tire I most often recommend. Go for it!

I have them. I got them last year right at the start of winter. I drove on them one time in light snow and they were fine. I don't have real high expectations of what they could do in snow but I never felt unsafe. they are fine in the rain and grip pretty well in the dry
