mazadaspeed3 and leave it stock for awhile or
fit with about 7+k left over to try and swap a K

or go for broke and try to add alittle more and try for a sti or evo

OK I saw this thread in GDD too.

A decent K series motor with tranny will cost you at least 3 grand. More desirables will cost 4-5k.

The fit doesnt really compare to the Mazdaspeed. It's not fast and you'll have to wait a while for any sort of kit to swap it in, and I have a feeling it's going to cost more than 7 k.

i knew i saw this somewhere.

since this is the fit forum, your probably going to have many people say the fit.

like me

BUT, it all depends on your needs. if you drive around alot and need to carry stuff, then the fit is the way to go.

go test drive one and see how you like it

No other way around.

The Mazda platform is shared by the Ford Fusion and whatever lincoln counterpart that has

Did you read the information on the page you linked? The Mazda6 and Ford Fusion share the CD3 platform. The Mazda3 and European Focus share a different platform, the smaller C1. The US Focus still uses the older C170 platform which is different from both of these.

To the OP: Comparing the Mazdaspeed 3 and a Fit with a K-series swap is really difficult. A better comparison for the Mazdaspeed 3 is probably something like a WRX wagon. I think you'll have trouble making a Fit competitive with the Mazdaspeed for under $25000. Also keep in mind that the Mazdaspeed would have a warranty and dealer support while a modded Fit would not.

My wife and I test drove the the Mazda3 Sport before buying the fit.

The Mazda3 sport had great handling, great acceleration, great peformance. It was IMO more comfortable to drive then the fit. (I don't like the seating position in the Fit) I also like the look of it better then the Fit. IMO the 3 is the better car.

HOWEVER,

The price difference when we were buying was significant and our intended uses for the new car didn't include performance driving. (it was supposed to be a commuter car for my wife) The Fit is much cheaper on gas, the tank in the Fit is 15 litres smaller then the Mazda3 and it still goes further on a tank. The Fit is also more of a utility vehicle with the various seating arangements then the Mazda3. It's also a safer car.

In the end we bought the Fit for the same monthly payment that we would have had to LEASE the Mazda3 for.

If the new car was going to be meant for me though, I probably would have bought the Mazda3 Sport.... I really liked that car.

I'd go with the 3...

I wouldn't ever buy a new car with the immediate intention of swapping in a new engine and completely voiding your warranty.

The OP has no idea what he wants. He named several completely different cars.

I say let the thread die and let him do his HW a little more.

This is retarded, the 2 cars are completely different and in 2 different classes.

That said, keeping 7k to mod and ruin the warranty of your BRAND NEW car is also retarded.

Thus, you are retarded.
