Weekend trip starting in NoVA Oct 6th 6-7am
Haven't exactly planned this out yet. Planning to leave early on Friday, Oct 6th. Stop in Lynchburg (had a friend that recently came out of a coma), then head to Glasgow, Kentucky. We may or may not be able to hit Glasgow that day, if not we'll hit it on Saturday.
On Saturday, we'll keep trucking on through, most likely go upstate Kentucky to Ohio/West VA...by Saturday night I want to be no more than 4 hrs away from DC (probably in West VA somewhere). Sunday morning will be more relaxed, and the goal would be to be back in the DC area by 2pm.
Those that's ridden with me know that I'm good with maps...I'm trying to find good roads to make our ride as interesting as possible. As the leaves have started to change colors, I think it'll be a blast.
If anyone is interested, PM me.

Worse trip ever. We should have left Thurs night; we got caught in the storm that decided to stick around the mid-VA area the last two days. We froze our asses off in the typhoon and got stuck in Charlottesville. We came back early, obviously, and are re-planning for a trip in 2-3 weeks.
Also, I experienced my first "almost" high-side, leaving the gates too hard.

Yeah, that about sums it up. But, the experience of riding in the pouring rain is something I can keep with me.

For what, the next time you forget how to check the weather before riding?

Give me more credit than that. You honestly think I wouldn't check the weather for a 3 -day trip? I've been checking it for days before we left. Doppler showed that the rain was only in the DC region on Thurs/Fri. It was leaving the region to go northeast. No problem. Then out of nowhere the doppler showed central VA getting hit (as well as the Tidewater region)...not the same system that rolled through NoVA, which came from the mid-america, as most systems do. This one just popped out of nowhere.
Like I said, if we had left Thurs (when it was pouring up here), we would have been clear in Kentucky and West VA...damn, so disappointed.

Good to have you back in 1 piece Ick. That sucks to hear it wasn't a good trip. I too got stuck in the Thurday night storm which is why I'm at home sick and eating Pho everyday. Who else went with you?
