Default is this the right spring rates for me?

going to order some gc's and they will be on agx's so i cant go to stiff on the rates.
car will be mainly used for drag racing but will be used sometimes for a daily driver as well.

off the shelf- 380 front/ 250 rear

suggested by a freind- 400 front/ 450 rear

this is on a '01 prelude

what are some spring rates other 5th gens are running?

well spring rates are a bit tricky. it all depends on you.

what do you currently have?

and i thought OTS gc's had lower rates than that. seems kinda high for OTS.

400/450 will make the rear slide out alot. usually preludes run stiffer fronts / softer rears. but some like it just a tad bit stiffer in the back.

i'm running 450/450 on gc's with koni yellows. and its not too bad.

450 in the rear will give you a lot more oversteer but on a daily driver going over bumps and hills might make the rear fly around if you are not careful. Plus these spring rates will be good for drag but maybe too stiff for a daily driver imo. I know bad-monkey used to run a set-up with a stiffer rear.

you would be fine with 400 / 450. that's a good set up for a street / track car IMO. I would not go with any stiffer springs on those shocks though.

450 in the rear for drag racing IMO is not doing anything.

why wouldnt it?? stiffer springs in the rear will help the car from transfering all the weight to the rear while launching

I know this, IMO 450 is not stiff enough.

thats true.. but its stiffer than 250 for sure.. and not exceeding the capacity of the agx shocks he wants to use..

agx shocks cant handle much stiffer springs so its pretty much just a compromise

I am a tokico fan myself on my street(nitrous) car I uses tokico blues all the way around with custom spring rates and I 1.9 60ft on drags. On my track car (turbo) I use tokico whites in the rear and blues up front. I consistaly cut 5 back to back 1.67- 1.69 on slick lastime @ the track. Last time I checked I havent seen any prelude's 60ft better then mine

It's always the ones who know nothing about everything and have never been fast running there yapps . I go threw alot of trial and error to see what works and what doesnt for myself. If you two didnt notice I said IMO not for a fact. Which means it what works for "ME" I was adding my 2cents just like you added yours.
