over 3000K.

I'm not going to go and map out every 10kph what rpm I'm doing. Go drive your car and figure it out? It isin't like there is going to be a wrong answer. It's what your car is doing.

you do know that rpm has nothing to do with gas consumption its based off of throttle position

Nope, vtec only activates under full throttle at the rpm usually discussed, 4400 on a gsr for example, but will not activate if you are under partial throttle until 5000. If you're cruising up to 5k rpm, you will not be in vtec. Now, the instant you drop the throttle and are above 4400 rpm it will engage vtec, because you are already above the engagement point. Thats with a gsr, mind you. The values are different for the different vtec cars, a type r will kick in at 5700 rpm under WOT, but will hold out up to 7k depending on throttle position.

Exactly what I was going to say. Though when I do over 80 it seems that my car gets way shittier gas mileage. Like 90mph, maybe I'm imagining it though.

youre not imagining it...the faster you go, the harder your car works to keep you at that speed....you're working harder and harder against air resistance...
if you could get away w/ 65 youd see way better mileage than at 80

Yea really. I hope you guys realise that "Cruising" at 65, 70, 80 mph is what's worsening your gas mileage, not necessarily the RPM's of that speed.

Slow the heck down, not only do you get better gas mileage, but you get less tickets. I barely cruise 75 (10mph limit above speed limit on highways is my rule lol)....

Did I say it was bad? No.

But anything above 55mph is actually going to start decreasing your gas mileage, even if you stay at that speed. And, obviously, it gets worse as you get faster, fighting air & friction from slowing you down. And, doubly obviously, this magic cruising number for best gas mileage depends on the coeficient of drag, weight, tires, etc.

The highest MPH we see here in NY is 65 on the quickway/thruway, of which I cruise 70-75 in at times,...I know down in NC/SC I-95 reaches 70mph, but otherwise it doesn't pay to cruise any faster, other than the fact that any street light totally outweighs the time you "bought" in going that fast.

65 is the limit here. I got pulled over cruise controlled at 60 because I was going to slow at 1am.

Thats what I said. I sorta laughed at him when he told me that. You could tell he felt kinda awkward that telling me 60mph was too slow.
