Default A/C question

I know i read the other A/C questions but the problem is kinda different on mine and i was wondering if anyone has a solution? Well my A/C kicks in and everything and gets cool but never gets cold like it should.. i just put more r-134a in and stil the same result. The PSi is just fine and the compressor works.. Someone said that my car isn't closing a valve separating the hot air to cold air all the way and soo they're mixing or something close to that ?? does anyone know what to do thx if u can help

When your moving, the AC is colder than when your standing still. Accords havent been known for particularly cold AC's.

Does your temperature **** twist all the way to the coldest setting? Is there any "play" in the ****?

If your air mix cable isn't properly adjusted, it could be your problem like your friend said. It's located under the dash just to the right and above the center console on the bottom of the heater box. Just look around there while you move the heater control ****. (Make sure your **** isn't broken, that's also a common problem.) Move the **** to the full cold position and try to pull the linkage where the cable conects. If it move just pop the cable out of it's clip, move it as needed, and clip it back in.

i have the same problem...however, even when driving along just with 'fresh air' selected to come into the cabin, i feel warm-to-hot air coming thru the vents - even though the temperature outside can be 10deg C colder....i've had an engine conversion...not sure if that has resulted in anything going wrong, as i didn't have the car before the conversion took place, so i dont have anything to compare it with.

as with you guys, i can physically feel the piping from the compressor being very cold!..so obviously its not that, taht is the problem.

anyone have...photos? (am i asking too much?) as to the specifics of where this heater control **** wiring is?

umm.. if you really need, i can take pictures of where to find the little box. but its pretty easy to find it yourself. just get under there and have someone move the temp ****.

also.. youll see the thing moving... and then you can just push it close all the way ,if its not, with your hand. i took off my dash one time.. and then had this problem. had to readjust the cable, but now it works great.

contact me if you need pics, i doubt ill be checking back anytime soon

I thought the hot/cold control **** is connected to the heater core inlet valve. This is what you see opening and closing when you turn the **** on your dash. Make sure it's closed because this was my problem.

Is the cable hooked to the air box under the dash too like you guys are talking about?

Newer accords (fifth gen and up I belive) have electronic motors controlling heat/cool and zoneing correct? I know my 6th gen does I can hear the motor move the settings when I move the dial.

ehehhe damn..if its that sort of instant success then i'll giev it a try too ! (been busy working) but i check it out on the weekend...

so again...(for slow ppl like me )

i live in australia, so my accord is RHD, so presumably i'll be looking from the front passenger's feet area - up, behind the 'stereo deck' (that region)?...or is it located a little more higher towards the back of the heater control ****?

Hey dallandra, this is off topic but I have never seen a RHD car and I have a question. What is the layout of your pedals? Here the clutch is on the left, the gas is on the right, and the brake is in the middle. Just curious.

great!!..it sort of works! (noticible improvement, however...)

i found the cable you were referring to, and the..well (dot know how to describe it) - but the "plastic arms" which actually open/close between hot and cold; obviously this arms are actuated by the cable which pulls/pushes according to the temperature-**** on the centre console.

i can visibly see this plastic arm not going all the way to the cold air position - ie i have to physically push the arm to its furthest "cold" position - and this works!..i turn the air con on and cold air!! woohoo!...unfortunately tho, it appears the cable which, as i mentioned, actuates this 'plastic arm', is too long (?), to push the arm all the way into the cold position. Hence whenever i return the temp. control **** back to warm/hot, and then back again to cold...it will never cause the plastic arm to ever reach the fully 'cold-air' position - ie just cold air (not mixed with hot air)

can you tell me how to remedy this - i read on the thread that you just pull the cable out and reinsert it when the position is right ...?...i would appreciate further descriptions on this

cheers,
Ben

The plastic temperature **** may be broken and not turning the shaft all the way. Have you pulled the **** and looked at the back?
