Default Car wont start! (I can't believe I'm posting this).

I don't have enough time to run through wires right now so here's what's going on, I got out of work a few nights ago, put the key in and *click.* I can hear the relay clicking from under the dash but my starter wouldn't engauge, wouldn't move period. So I jumped directly from the positive of my battery to my signal wire for the starter and she fired right up. Just to verify, when I got home I tested to see what voltage was coming out of that signal wire when I turned the key, it would read .01-.02 and fall back down each time I twisted the key, so obviously I've got almost zero current getting to the starter though that wire.

Anybody wanna answer it for me? I'm thinking either the wire is broken (which I find hard to believe), the relay is bad (which would be weird because I can hear it, it clicks hard and strong), or my ignition went bad (which would also be weird because it activates that relay). Am I missing something?

Sounds like a bad starter solenoid or a bad ground to me.

The starter pulls almost as many ohms as the negitive cable itself, also with the fact that I can start it up by jumping it directly from my battery to the signal wire and have it work should mean the starter solenoid is ok.

I would say a bad ignition switch. Get a wiring diagram and check for power coming out of the ign. switch's start wire while turning the key to crank. If there's nothing there, make sure the switch is getting the proper supply power.

+2 on ign switch. it seems as though youve checked everything else so it should be the problem.

Haha, I had the whole drivers side ripped out just tracing wires until I got to the starter relay, the bitchin plug fell out! How, you may ask? I have no clue! But she's secure in there once again and runnin good.

Weirdest thing, it was in there JUST enough to activate the relay, but wouldn't get any power to the starter.
