Default 250whp b16 hydro need a new CLUTCH, smooth engagement this time! (no action please)

i am looking for a new clutch that wil hold on a turbo 250whp b16. (hydro) and it needs to be smooth!!!!!
I have got a action sprung 6puck but it sucks. the friction plate is to thin for the pressure plate so it picks up at the last moment. And it picks up at once! its wrecking my drivetrain. I have to make it slip a lot to drive away normal but now its making lots of noise. i'm afraid it started to eat my flywheel.
so please tell me what affordable clutch can hold 250whp (175torque???) with smooth angagement on a b16 hydro tranny?
thanks!

btw yes i know how to instal a clutch and i did *****-drive it for 500mile+

Good to know. I have 248whp and ~231tq. I have the karbonite clutch from Nopi and it has been working fine for the last 15K. Feels good, but I have wheel hop if I don't feather it right. Any other recommendations?

231tq? we are talking b16 here! and i don't think it will make more than 200tq when only makink 250whp.
please don't compare same clutches in different engines to each other.
cm stage 3? yours is in a ls right?"
anybody got any input?
Thanks!

i have an ACT heavy duty with 6puck in my street car. its rated by ACT @ 315ft/lbs torque. so it will be good enough for your 250whp..175tq.... the enguagement is somewhat smooth, the pedal feel isnt as harsh as an extreme pp, but its alittle stiffer than stock.

thats a good choice i am running the HDSS right now which still holds up to 248 ft/lbs of torque and has really smooth engagement like stock. i wouldnt mind a little stiffer with the XT pressure plate though

ACT XTSS, holds 319ftlbs and has smooth engagement because it's a street disc. Only way to go for comfortable driving, and it will hold more than it's rated too.......

Iv'e been running an OEM ITR pressure plate with a ACT street disc in my turbo b16 for the last 6 months...it's held up great on many trips to the dragstrip and daily driving as well..i'm only making a little over 160 ft. lbs though.

i have a b16a with the same hp tq and yeaim running a stock pressure plate and a 6puck unsprung act (used when i bought it about let say 3k miles life left) and lil chatter if u dont know how to balnce the gas and clutch but **** is holding up so good

so if u have th money and maybe want some more power out of that b16 buy the stage 3 kit (act clutch specialties exedy)but if ur cheap get a 6puck sprung or unsprung and call it a day

i have tried a 6puck no thanks![QUOTE=panamaRED]i wouldnt skimp out on a clutch, it sucks dropping trannies, and it sucks worse when you have to drop it 3 days after you installled the cheapo ****, because it started slipping because it was really a repainted seco pressure plate,

or a autozone brute force stocker painted white, like on ebay.
your right thats why i am asking here! but i dont think that i need to spend 500dollar for 250whp.

you can look into competition clutch.
I had the stage 4 sprung version and just bought the stage 5 from Arturbo.

my stage 4 had smoother engagement than my ACT HD 6puck and pedal pressure was less too.

honestly check out the OEM ITR clutch or an ACT HDSS...they will hold about the same so just buy which ever one is cheaper.

ACT 4 puck race disc, xtreme stage4 pressure plate (or something like that). Supposedly can handle 400+ft/tq. Easier on drivetrain, harder on your foot. Engagement is ridiculous...you'll catch atleast through 3rd anyways, maybe even bark some in 4th.

Exedy stage 2.....i have that clutch in my GSR hydro and i'm making nearly 300whp on it. The engagement is a little tricky until you get used to it, but the best way to describe it is a stiff/sticky stock clutch. I would highly recommend them!

i second that motion... its a solid clutch.. stock feel.. but grips pretty good. I miss it.
