Default When getting your car painted questions

Alright well im going to be getting my car painted soon, and right now i have harvard blue, (94 DX Hatch) and im wanting to do Electron Blue Pearl with a budget in mind, and not removing engine. What should i get painted to make it look good besides the exterior of car. I would do engine bay but that involves removing engine right? Well any help with these questions will be appr.

You can remove the motor yourself for free. Also, you can probably prep the car yourself to save $$$.
I would say stick to the OEM color if you can't afford to paint everything or keep saving until you can afford a quality paint job.

my buddys are helping me prep it, when changing colors should i just walk around the car, and spots u can see when doors are open i should just get painted...like door jams door panels, rear hatch....as engine bay goes, removing the engine would be alot of work on top of getting it painted, but who knows i might as well do it, but if i do do that then ill just get whole car painted

Do it right the first time, with the correct tools and enough expierence the motor can be out in 30-60 mins. It'll be worth it once its done.

If you haven't done body work let them do it. Just pull the motor and all the models off the car. Belt molding, fr glass moldings, rocker moldings, handles, headlights, taillights, etc.

Trust me, you'll much happier if you do the bay and jams. Take the time.

BTW, Honda Tech will be seeing a progress thread on mine soon.........Full shave and tuck, boosted and much more. Cars at paint now and motor is being assembled in my garage along with parts galore being delivered weekly.

IMO you're changing from the best OE honda color offered (Harvard Blue Pearl) to the most overdone color out there in Electron Blue Pearl. No offense to anyone with an EBP 99-00 Si, it's just that that color was like the huge bandwagon color like Phoenix Yellow was for the ITR in 00-01.

I would personally keep Harvard Blue and have the exterior and jams done up sweet and if you don't want to jam out the engine bay you won't have to.

I've personally done a color change the right way and it's a ton of work I'd never want to do again:

Bad pics, but you get the idea - car was red. If you are not mechanically inclined at all, and are not able to pull the engine and the accessories on the firewall, then painting the rest of the car and not the engine bay will look ghetto. I work at a shop and fortunately was able to do all of my teardown and rebuild over a long period of time with plenty of space and tools - it's not something I'd ever attempt at home personally. Those that do this **** at home are way more commited than I am for sure.

That's just my personal opinion.

If you're interested in the final product you can click the link in my sig - I'm not trying to bastardize your topic bro.

Yeah that def. looks like alot of work, my choice was either Harvard Blue Pearl or the Electon Blue Pearl. My engine bay is flawless with the color of Harvard Blue Pearl, but the outside is where the roof and right side as became to have skin cancer. Thanks for the shedding of light im just gunna keep the oe color, thats alot of work for the time i dont have.

Trust me man I had to choose from every color imaginable and my choices came down to the Vogue Silver I went with, or Harvard Blue. If my car had already been Harvard Blue there would have been no debating.
