boo! bad dealer in So Cal. (Planet Cars in Bellflower)
I was searching for a 99-00 EK 5spd sedan. I searched in Cars.com and found one in that dealer. I called to double check, and the manager (Shawn) claims his dealer specializes in Hondas and has many late-EK 5 spd to choose from. I asked particularly for the white one and he said sure.
So I drove over there the next day. He was right about their inventory, it is full of Hondas, EK, EGs, Prelude, Accords, Integras. I was initially pleased to find out the dealer was run by young guys in t-shirts and jeans instead of old, balding men in suits. But Shawn bluffed about having the model I wanted. Shawn even tried to fool me that a 98 is a 99. At that point I gave up and left.

well, I called 3 other dealers and they told me upfront that the car I want was sold.
yes, it wasn't a BIG deal, just a few hours and 20 miles wasted. But imo, if a person can't even be honest on the most basic level, I can't trust him in anything higher.... like buying a car from them.

lol
you went there the next day... YOUR car could have easily been sold and nobody even shawn would remember somone on the phone wanting that particular car. their not in the business to "hold" cars either. obviously theres no way to know if he was bluffing just to get you in the lot or not who knows he could have been the first young sales guy that wasnt concerned with the commission. bah who are we kidding.
and a 98 could be a 99 (hence a 99 car with a production date in 98 but sold in 99) easily misunderstood symantic's common with car dealership sales personal's...
unfortunately hondas/acura's sell themselves so grabbing the one you want, when you want is a task initself..
good luck, the right one will come along....
i waited 3 months and flew to michigan and drove back to socal to get my car.

anyways, yeah yeah, I know their sole-existance is to sells car. But a little dignity is appreciated.

I was in search of an integra and stumble upon their ads (unfortunately). Same jack *** guy by the name of Shawn. White dude with blondish hair and mildly built right? Yea, ****** advertised cheap *** looking cars on their ads but when you come down to see them, its either all gone or they try to bluff you into buying a dirtbag of a car.

yep...
yep...
What dealers do is say they have a car, but try to sell you on another car. They said they had a 99 Civic, but was trying to sell you a 98 Civic.
i seen their adds on auto trader, last year i called planet auto replying to an add i seen for a ek with an si front. the infamous shawn picks up and tells me the cars sold and trys to get me to come down and look at the cars at their lot, i told him that was okay and hung up the phone. as i did a little more searching on auto trader i see the same exact ek but the add belonged to a private owner, so shawn perp'd a picture from someone else and was advertising it. for about 2-3 straight months every saturday shawn would call my cell harrassing me about cars he has on his lot and to come down and check it out. it stoped eventually.
I went there when I was looking for a 99-00 hx 5speed.
I found plenty of manuals and would of bought one but they were in horrible shape. Seats were ripped, cars were lowered so bad that the camber was way off.
I gave them my number and told them to call me if they get an HX. They treated me good.
I did find a ex coupe 5 speed with like 50k miles at (Norm Reeves) Bellflower& Artesia but the lowest they would go on the car is $10.1K
Keep looking.
