brakes squealing, only 2000 miles old
been going on for about a week now. the pads are still almost as thick as the day i put them in. sprayed that disc brake quiet crap on the back of the pads. of course it wears out eventually, but damn these brakes are squealing like its metal on disc contact. any ideas?

did you bother to break the pads in or did you just go driving on them? Did anything not fit back quit right on install? Do your rotors have a rusty raised edge on them?

last time i changed my brake pads i left those out cuz i was trying to rush, so after a day of driving on the new pads and wondering what the hell that chattering noise was I realized what I did.

didnt change the clips, but i greased everything up.
i didnt know they had to be broken in
there is a SUPER slight raised rusty edge, yes.

bumpage on what?
you didn't read the directions on the brake pads. you are supposed to break in the pads.
there's a specific procedure. basically heating up the pads and cooling, then laying off for some period of time with no hard stops

Ouch dude.
Looks like you will be re-doing some pads this weekend.
For the first couple hundred miles when you start from cold, brake VERY gently, then progressively get harder on them as they warm up but never too harsh. Restart the process every time the pads get cold. After the first 500-1000 miles, you should be good.

ok im not stupid, you dont go and abuse something that is brand new. the squealing JUST started and they're almost 2500 miles old, to be exact. if i didnt break them in correctly, wouldn't they have started the squeaking a little sooner than that? ill redo them, it makes no difference, if thats indeed the cause.
whoa whoa guys you dont need to brake in pads for that long....
after a fresh brake pad install, take the car for a spin around the neighborhood......accelerate to 45, slow down hard to like 5 mph, dont stop, let off brakes, accelerate again
do that like 10 times, then let it cool, after that, youre good to go....
also, make sure to use some disc brake quiet between the pads and the squeal shields....
and remember that cheap, hard pads that last a long time are likely to squeak a lot bc theyre so hard...

Its one of these 2 things
1) rotors were not cut or new 1s were not put on
2) Im 99.9% + this is what making the noise. See what the pads are made out of because if u have matalic in the pad thats were the noise is comming from.
I had the same problem and i went to ceramic pads never had the problem sence then
