Need help fast, rear main seal leaking
I have a 2003 Accord EXV6 and the tranny went out at 96K miles, well after getting it back from Honda (it was a warranty replacement) now the rear main seal is leaking, I drive almost 400 miles a day round trip to work, so I noticed it at about 104K miles, I still have warranty for the tranny repair but my Honda warranty expired at 100K and they say it has nothing to do with them and they couldn't have caused that?? does any one know if that's true? to me it seems if you install the tranny and maybe let the jack down before its torqued to the motor , damage might be possible? well I cant afford to have this done and I'm convinced it is related to them changing out the tranny, The service manager even told me its not the rear seal I've only seen one of those go bad in all the years I've been around Honda's and that was a car that had been sitting for several years, well not that they confirmed it is that seal, now he says, yeah they do go bad some times, My shop formum says he's seen a few of them go bad, how the story changes, and if I want it fixed it's out of my pocket.
so does any one know if the manual warns of any ways to damage the seal during the tranny R&R , or have any advise for me?
Oh and one last thing , before even looking at the car, the manager said so you think the leak has something to do with us changing the tranny? I said yes, and he replied, WELL YOUR WRONG! he hadn't even looked at the car or confirmed it was oil and not tranny fluid.
if any one has any documentation of warnings or any thing that might help me, please forward it to me, my email is scmyattb1@comcast.net
also is there any where to find the shop manual on line to read?
Thanks Brian

Actually unless the shop removed the flexplate than they are right there is no way that the seal could have been damaged without removing the flexplate (there is no need to remove the flexplate during a tranny swap)

The problem is probably not the rear main seal itself, but the housing that holds the seal. Very hard to find and determine the leak unless the trans is removed.
I've seen this several times in the past few years.
Item #7 in the link below shows 4cyl similar to V-6
