Default Knock Sensor...what size socket??

I just got my knock sensor, and I was going through my sockets, and I can't find a socket that fits. I would assume it is metric and not standard, but I could not find my 32 mm or 36 mm socket(use these for my axle nuts). So I'm searching, and I try a 1" and it is too small, I then try a 1 1/8" and it is too big, so what size socket should I be using? It looks to be a special shaped one, but I am not sure...

pretty sure its 1 1/16", my buddy had a socket this size and it was perfect fit.

on a side note, how much did you pay for your sensor? and what was your reason for replacing it? my car still has CEL 23 and im waiting on a new sensor, hoping that fixes it

I bought a used one, and it was for 35 bucks. I am throwing a code 23, and I hope this makes it go away.

I tried my 19mm socket, and it seemed really small. But I will try it out. I'll take it to autozone and try it out. Thanks!

I just replaced my knock sensor no more then a few months ago. I had to go out and buy a set of the massive sockets just for it. Its the largest socket in the set which is 24mm.

thanks Steve-o...

I was doing the conversion math just am inute ago, and 24 mm = .98 inches(approx.), and I tried a 1" socket, which was too small...so I knew it couldnt be 24 mm.

But thanks for the help!

actually, it is almost 1 1/16.

1 1/18 is too big, b/ I tried it.

on a side note, it is a 27 mm, I took the sensor to the parts store, was looking threw sockets, and had to get a deep well 27, fit like a glove. So, I get home, and I just up the car, and get under there. Let's just say, honda put this sensor in the worst possible position. That bitch was so hard to get to. And trying to use a 1/2 drive wratchet doesnt help either. But after a while, I get it off, and the new one on. Made sure to plug it up correctly, the plug with just 1 wire. I then reset my ecu for 30 seconds...

Go fire her up, no CEL. So Im like, ok, I take her for a drive. I wait until she warms up a little bit, and then I get into her, hitting vtec, going through the gears. Still no CEL. Well on the way home, Im driving pretty conservative, I shift at 4krpm, and go to 4th. and BAM, CEL. I was like expletive!!!! God Dammit!!

So I get home, and I was talking to MAtt(bb4ever) online on AIM. ANd he was trying to hepl me figure out my problem. I was going to check if the wire was grounded out. B/c that could be a very good possibility. Also, my sensor could be bad, but it looked damn good. No cracks on the plastic plug, nothing. Last resort, iis a bad ecu.

Well, we are chatting, and he asked me if I drove the car before the swap. And I said, yes, it had the f22 in it before I swapped. Well, He asked what harness i was using, I said h23. Well, come to find out, the knock sensor was never reaching the ecu.. It was reaching the shock tower and all, b/c of the h23 harness, but from the shock tower to the ecu, there is no wire going to the ecu for the knock sensor. I looked at my ecu plug, and sure enough, right there in pint D3, there was NO wire.

How stupid am I ? I probably just bought another knock sensor for nothing.

yea i meant 1 1/16", that was what i said earlier anyway

so do you have to run a wire for it now? i guess the CEL comes up just because its reading no KS there... i swapped busted H23 with another, so im pretty sure the wire is still there.

wanna sell one of your KS's?
