Default wtf is up with my axle?

ok so i swapped out my engine, put the new one in with the same tranny that came with the car and the axles went in fine. found out the motor had rod knock so i had to swap the engine again did the same as before reused the axles and transmission. this last time my driver side didnt want to go it at the last 1/4 inch or so, tried everything to get it in, didnt work so i bought a new one went to go put it in and same problem. i tried lining the axle in the hub and using the hub as a weight to pound in the axle, no luck, tried turing and pushing at the same time and no luck, on the old one i even removed the c clip and tried putting it in and didnt work. anyone have a solutions?

this is where im stuck at right now

me too bro... me too.. I'm having the same exact problem and i'm leaking tranny fluid. Seems obvious but here are some pointers people gave me:

-make sure the old C ring isn't lodged in there
- check the tranny seal? (not sure about this one)
- file any little burs on the axle spline
- keep wiggling it and maybe it'll jog in there..

i've tried all those^^ and it still is stuck at the same distance as yours.

The one thing i didn't try was seeing if it was in gear while i was trying to put the axle in? If so take it out of gear... if not... put it in gear?

i checked if it was in gear and it wasnt. im 100% sure that the c clip isnt in there because i saw it on the axle when i turned it in as a core. the wiggling i tried but i mean how much wiggling does it take? haha. the tranny seal is there as well. there is like a little rubber gromit around where the axle goes in on the tranny side and mine is there.

when i first swapped my OEM axle out the one i replaced it with slid right in until 1/4" then i tapped it with a plastic sledge hammer and pop... went right in. The last two axles have given me more and more problems and now... like you mine is stopped about 1/16" from the tranny base...

if you figure something out please PM me!

Sometimes it's hard to get the axle to pop all the way in. For me, I usually just use a long 2x4, I press it up against the inner axle joint and give the other end a few good whacks with a hammer.

Either that, or I disconnect the axle from the hub, hold the axle straight, and pound on the end of the axle until it goes all the way in.

Basically you just need to tap it in there, whatever method works for you is fine.

i'm always a little afraid to really whack the axle... not sure how much inner damage i can cause by hitting it...

you can drive it like this... the fluid that leaks out is very minimal. I put about 200 miles on mine. And will continue to do so until i can fix this problem

Is the axle being stretched or is there still room for it? If its the same axle and trans and you didnt have problems before bang the **** out of it. If that still isnt working take the axle out and clean it off good then put some grease on it. If you still cant do it take it to a shop

well i really dont need a car so i dont think i would want to take the chance of it slipping out screwing something up further.
