Default Should I even bother tuning?

Well I just recently got an SMSP header for my H22A Euro R motor. Im wondering if I should even bother tuning it. I use crome on a chipped p28. How much of a difference am I really looking at. Should I bother with a 150$ buck an hour tune?

after all my tuning and converting to obd1 I made
184whp 152ftq without the header pretty much intake crappy 2.25 exhaust obd1
my dads also giving me **** about ( why bothers ) so any excuses would be a great help.

Any help would be good.
Thanks

p.s. I would have posted in performance but they wont let me

tuning will be needed to allow the header to achieve maximum performance.

So you've already tuned your engine, and have since installed the SMSP header?

edit: I used to be running a hondata setup that had someone else's bolton H22 tune on it. Presumably on his engine it was a nice 13:1 or so line across the board.

This is what Dave's header did to that tune.

Your new header is flowing a LOT of air, especially up top. If you were running a stock ECU I wouldn't worry too much since they run very very rich in the top end, but if you were tuned to a nice flat A/F (ie, with less room for error) I'd consider fixing it up a bit.

you could get away with out a tune. but you spent the money on the header.....get the tune to go with it. those headers flow really well so it should be worth your money.

yes the tru test of a header is in the AFR curve ... a better header should make afrs leaner because the header is working better than the previous one and actually using up all of the fuel that the ecu is supplying. getit tuned for sure!!!!

Hmm also the timing was all the way retarded when I got it tuned. Will I gain more power now that the timing is corrected with this header, and new tune? I dont feel a difference really with the SMSP

where is my 20whp

HP will follow i am willing to bet that this particular vehicle went lean after the header was installed ... hich by tuning the AFR back to where it should be the HP will also increase

Groovy then i'll take it back to upland soon for retuning.

Im not sure if it went leaner at whitfield or not.

If you had a decently tuned motor with a stock header and swapped it with a SMS header, you're going to be running much leaner.
