gutting a car!?
I always thought about gutting my EJ1. Let me know how it goes. I have no desire to drive around "A" passegner let alone 3 passengers. I think i might take out my passenger seat and rear seats this weekend. Wonder how annonying it will be to hear everything in the trunk?
one word guys, DONT DO IT! i did it to my ej8, and now am trying to replace all of the interior, costing me thousands. Please, for me! not that much weight is in the interior. But, you can take out the A/C (which you will regret) take out the P/S which im glad i did, cruise control, spare tire, misc brakets, maybe take out the sound deadening tar underneath the carpet.
However Ive had my car gutted for a year now, and I cry myself to sleep every night because my Brand new civic, is now a $200 piece of honda. Please! keep things looking STOCK! OEM! OE! NEW!!!! mainly you can buy lighter wheels, carbonfiber stuff, lighter things, but dont screw up the look of the car by gutting the interior, its only like 30lbs, which is NOTHING!

you sir are an idiot. when you gut your car you should NOT get rid of your interior. as well as any other modification to your car, you keep the original parts!

are your doing it for noise or weight reduction?
the interior parts aren't really that heavy, the seats are a easy to remove. but i would not do everything.
if you are concerned with noise, you can buy some dynamat and its suppose to add insulation to keep your rattles away.

What's your purpose for gutting the car? Personally I wouldn't recommend it unless you've got a functional reason for it IMO. If its hooked up and you drag race/autox it then itll help, but the car gets noisy. Especially driving in the rain, holy ****. I've done it on a few cars and got sick of it eventually. If your car is stock and you just wanna do it cause you think you'll go faster or look cool, please, leave your interior in the car. If you gut it, keep everything cause one day you might wanna put it all back in.

If its costing you thousands to replace your interior, you're ripping yourself off real bad. He can easily gut his car without ruining anything, and if he doesn't like it put it all back.
thanks!</TD></TR></TABLE>

if you really want to get into it theres a company (i dont know the name so dont ask me but i read about them in a magazine) that is making lexan windows for hondas/acuras. the 3 rear windows will save you around 150 lbs (or so it was claimed). a carbon fiber trunk/hood would be decent but pricey. so if youre going all out, a carbon fiber hood/trunk, lexan windows, and take out everything you dont need/use.

Leave it aloen, your car's probably stock and is a total POS and u wanna drop it from the 17's to the 16's and it won't happen.
If you're turning it into a drag car, just rip everything including the dashboard right the expletive out. Though keep it once piece so you have an interior to do whatever...if you wanna sell it..or put it back in.....or if u wanna expletive it, whatever, just hang onto it...

FAL (Flex-A-Lite like the fans) makes lexan replacement windows. I think you added a 0 to that number though. Think about it, all the glass in the car combined doesn't even weigh 150lbs.
If you do the "street" (back half) kit, you'll save about 20-50lbs depending on the vehicle.
