Default Some say...205/40 16 but Local Tire shop says...205/45 16 or 205/50 16

I have some 16x7 Konig Heliums and have been looking at the proper tire size to put on them. I have a 2000 Ek with skunk 2 full coilovers. (Approx. 2' drop) I have been reading the boards (Yes, I searched it.) and some people say the proper tire size is 205/40 16 but I contacted a local shop and they said the tire size/wheel combo closest to stock size would be 205/45 16 or 205/50 16. Proper size would be:

195/50/15 - 205/50 15
205/45 16
205/40 17

Correct?

205/45/16 or 215/45/16 will both work.

I agree with the others who said that you can use 205/45-16 or 215/45-16. Both have an outer diameter within 1 percent of your stock outer diameter, which is why these sizes work (and also why 205/40-16 doesn't work - it's too small - and why 205/50-16 doesn't work - it's too big).

Also...

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Type Ek &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Proper size would be:

195/50/15 - 205/50 15
205/45 16
205/40 17

Correct?</TD></TR></TABLE>

On your car, if you had 15" wheels, the proper sizes are 195/55-15 or 205/50-15. I don't know if that's what you intended to type and just mistyped it, or what, but 195/50-15 is too small for your car. (That's the size for pre-'96 Civics.)
