Default Are wheel adaptors safe? Worth it???

My buddy has a set of wheels that are for his prelude (4x114) that he wants to sell me. I got a integra with 4x100, what im wondering is if i get adaptors so his rims will fit. How far will the tire stick out? Is adaptors safe? I've heard they get loose? Will my steering be all messed up since the offset will be off?? Im tryn to get the answers to these questions and find out how much adaptors cost. BTW the wheels that my buddy has are volk te37 in bronze. Or else i wouldnt go through so much trouble. LOL

You could try to buy it then sell them for a lil more. Otherwise I don't think that the possible damage that could occur w/ using adapters is worth the risk.
