Skunk2 intake manifold with p72
So guys is it bad to have this combo....cause i heard from somewhere and it was dyno proven that i would lose 10 hp if the secondary butterfly doesnt open up....but i have a skunk2 intake mani so my my secondaries are gone correct??...so would this effect my 97 p72 ecu and cause it to lose 10 hp??
The secondary runners are built into the stock GSR manifold. They are vacuum operated. The ECU has no clue whether the secondaries are there or not. The one caveat is that the stock program dumps in a bunch of fuel at the RPM when the secondaries are supposed to open. With a non-variable manifold there are no secondaries so you run rich for a bit and get a flat spot in the power curve. Not a major issue. If it's bothering you the flat spot can be found on a dyno and then tuned out with a V-AFC .
You won't loose like 10 whp where the GSR ECU dumps in the fuel for when it thinks the secondaries are kicking in. If you were looking at a dyno graph you'd see a part where the plot flattens out a tad, that's it.
'97 ITR ECU would be a good choice. Either way you still want to tune with a V-AFC since you don't have a B18C5.
