help with track times and little things to be faster
ok, so me and some friends went to the track to practice for our schools track day next month at fontana. now that im hooked on drag as well as track, i have some questions. but first my times and details of the car.
car settings.
97 civic ex coupe, cai/h/e, hx rims with shitty 175/65/14 tires set at 21 psi, shifting around 7100, toping out 3rd by the end of track (hit limiter 2 twice
). as far as gutting and pullys, i meased around with it a lot cus it was my first time and i didnt know what i was doing so ill put it run by run.
time rt 60' 330 1/8 mph 1000 1/4 mph notes
12:54 .674 2.417 5.588 10.461 65.17 13 6.38 16.311 84.53 no ps
2:23 .571 2.560 6.848 10.546 66.05 13.687 16.343 84.94 no rear or pass seats, no ps
3:26 .063 2.414 6.716 10.365 66.03 13.524 16.169 85.00 no rear or pass seats, ps back on
4:11 .115 2.471 6.214 10.488 66.65 13.661 16.349 84.36 full street dress
4:22 .310 2.482 6.878 10.552 65.96 13.719 16.394 84.34 full street dress
now the questions
1) as far as my times, how am i and what do i need to work on. sence it was my first time, it took 3 runs to get my rt down but the 4th was a .063 so i think im getting better at that, but what else can you see.
2) i need tires some time in the next few months, but i was thinking of dishing it out early and getting them just before my schools track day for better times, how much would this have helped me. (looking to get eather 195/60/14 or 205/60/14 falken ziex cus the price it right for a college student, but sugestions in the 50 or 60ish dollar range could help, as long as its a long lasting tire at ~30K or so)
3) any thing else can i do before going to the track other than a good tune up and droping the tire psi.
i was hoping to get into the 15's but it looks like im going to need more than cai/h/e to get there on a y8.

r/t has nothing to do with your et time...just go as soon as you see the third yellow light up and just worry about your launch. drag racing is all about 60 ft times..improve them and your et will improve immensely
i agree with swifty
you'll be deeper in the 15's with gettin that 60 foot down. i could see a 2.2-2.3 bringin you into the 15.8-15.9 range. just work on the launch for now and see what happens.
also sounds like u need more gear to get ur car into 4th gear by the end of the 1/4.

im runnin 15.0's and im barely getting into 4th with my z6 so i dont evne know if he will get into 4th without the full ex swap
edit: oh **** didnt know it was an ex already lol

i'm just sayin by experience, manual cars love to use 4 gears in teh 1/4 mile. u really want to be your 1:1 gear ratio or w/e gear is close to that during the end of the run. thats usually 4th gear. so if he's peggin out 3rd, he needs alot more gear or smaller tire to help hit top 4th
