just wondering i might be geting a sc61 turbo but my motor is completly stock fully rebuilt but next summer comes pistons and rods but for now wondering how a sc61 turbo would be on a stock b18a worth it or not?
thanks
thanks
Others can put there 2 cents in. I think it might be a little laggy for a stock b18a. I love my Sc61, but I likes to be revved. I'm takin my car up to about 9500 rpms.. On my particular setup, i really need to be at aleast 5k before I start spoolin up good and by 5500-5800 I'm pullin like a freight train. but this is on a 2.0 ls/vtec.. What's kinda revs can you get out of a stock b18a.

its always a good turbo to have cause it can handle alot of whp so iats good to have later dwn the road when uprades and new setups come.

if it was me, i wouldn't go w/ the 61 if anything go w/ a smaller sc series turbo...something that will give you a usable powerband instead of only 1.5k rpm of usable power...like everyone says, that turbo loves to rev...whats your hp goal?...that would help us more to say its the right turbo or not...

A 57-trim will do 450 WHP with much less lag than an SC61. An SC61 is a ~630 WHP turbo.

I agree. Stick with the 57 trim, you won't be disappointed.

um, are you getting spool up and like start generating like 3 pounds by 4800.. you won't get full boost untill almost 6K.

i had a T3 T67 on my stock internal LS motor. i dont remember the rpm it made XX lbs of boost blah blah (didnt even have a boost gauge in the car) but it was a blast to drive on the street, and it wasnt annoying to drive like cars with too small of turbo's. sure if you left it in 5th gear at 40mph it would "lag" but if you put it into the right gear, it would haul ***.
edit: actually now that i think about it.....im putting a SC61 on a stock internal LS tomarrow.....if i get everything installed in time i'll throw it on the dyno.....ill try to remember to post back here after all that

Don't get me wrong. The SC61 will feel great. I have done a few on stock internal LS's actually. One that had head work and could rev fairly well. It was a blast above 6K. But I still think the 57 trim is a perfect match for a daily driven LS.
had a sc61 on a stock ls, full boost around 5 and redline at 7200. not worth it. i got sc44 now much better for ls i think. although since building my motor and going to rev it high maybe 8 or 8200 thinking of gettting another 61.

what's funny is it only takes 5k to get the 61 up on 10lbs. and in a drag race situation thats perfect.... even w/ a 7200 or whatever redline. I think it depends on what u do w/ ur car... the 57 is nice and in alot of street scenario's I think it makes more sense.

thanks guys but honestly both are soundin good in difforent ways i'm ok wiht it hiting full boost at 5k and pullin like a mother fker till 72 or 75 but 57 is also good for street hm hard to decided because the 61 is awsome because i might get greedy down the road and want alot more power and this owuld be a stright tryed for me for the 57 i have now so i think i might still go wiht the sc61
