400whp in a 00 si running high 10's?
i think my friend is feeding me some pure bullshit, he said his cousin has a fully built d16y8 thats making 400whp.....this part i believe him about cause i was there to see it on the dyno, the car is not gutted in anyway, so full weight 00 civic si 2600lbs i assume.....he told me his cousin just pulled off a 10.8 at the track, i dunno i just dont see it happening, maybe in a gutted eg hatch with a full drag suspension etc.. what do you think? ever seen a 400whp or close ek coupe hit 10's or even close? im thinking its more of a low 12 high 11 second car.
Green machine, and some guy in Canada. Do a google search for green machine civic.
If you've seen the car, look for slicks and expanded wheel wells. Any car tht fast should be running slicks. Get the dude's number from your friend.

Because in Canada the SI is the EX and the SIR is the SI.
400 is capable of hitting high 10s in a very light car, being 2600lbs you may beable to do low 11s but i dont think 10s. More needs to be said about the car to tell you weither its do able or not.

I am pretty sure in Canada the Si is like our EXs (SOHC VTEC) and they have SiRs which is a little better than our Si's (170hp B16 instead of 160).

No, the Canadian SiR and US Si had the same engine with the same output of 160 HP. The only thing that made the SiR "better" was standard ABS and heated mirrors.

No matter how many times this is explained, I still get a kick out of this question.
400whp Civic running 10s? I believe it, depends on traction, weight, and driver ability though.

I don't believe it one bit. My friend has a built b20 turbo'd pushing out 600whp in a gutted hatch and hit a 10.2. There's no way that a stock si is gonna anywhere near that time.

I'm guessing that the title of the thread wasn't clear enough? 400whp on a SOHC is faaarr from stock.
On another note. 10.8 is doable with that kinda hp. Gutted/Good Driver/Claimed HP/Slicks/cool out

I'm hoping that's due to traction, right?

i dont beilieve it runs 10.8s either my friend has a 94 hatch putting 300ish whp , stock everyhting except drivetrain of course , he weighs 260 and got a 12.5 @ 114 . it takes a good bit in a civic to get in the 10s . more than a 400whp engine . oh yeah , this guy can drive , trust me . he was on BFG dr's .

Dude get real.. 300whp in a hatch will easily get you into the mid 11's with a good driver and slicks. I've got video's to prove it. Like the others said. high 300's - low 400's would have a lighter wieght hatch in the 10's. don't think you could get a Si coupe to hit those kinda numbers, but anythings possible.
