Default newbie w/ 94 vtec mod q's

I recently bought a 94 Accord EX and because of that I am new to this forum (Hi everyone). I don't know a whole lot about this year and model of the Accord, but I do know that it should be a reliable car for me. I bought it with 160,000 freeway miles on the original engine and it runs great. My last car was a '99 Mustang V6 with a 5spd, dual Flowmaster exhaust, and K&N/ram air system so I've had to learn not to expect too much from my Accord from a performance perspective. I bought it mainly for financial and practical reasons so I don't want to put too much money into performance parts. I have the auto tranny, but to my surprise the performance is pretty good once it gets moving. I just bought AEM cold air intake and I haven't had a chance to put it on yet. Does anyone here have this on their Accord and if so what do you like/dislike about it? Are there anyother mods that aren't costly that will improve my performance and not harm the engine and/or gas mileage? I want to this car to last me several years and I am glad to finally have an economical car that looks and drives good. Oh yeah, I don't want to turn my car into a Pep Boys Special Edition Accord (cheap exhaust tips, "buzzsaw" exhaust, stickers, neon colored odds-and-ends, etc.)!!! I usually have a little more money than that. Thanks.

welcome.

i seem to have increased gas milage with my power steering belt removed. i know some people on here dont believe in that kind of mod, but hey its free.

you can save money on other mods by doing the work yourself. im sure youve alread run into high labor costs in your 'stang in the past. er... maybe not. anyway, i just think thats the best way to save money. i dont think you should skim on the quality of the products. im not saying the most expensive product is always the best, just to shop around and do some research before you buy anything.

i have yet to see/hear one person complain about an AEM. although all i have is a cheap 2.5" intake that extends down to behind the battery. not quite short-ram and not quite cold air. when i want cold air (like when i go to the 1320) i just remove the headlight.

ok i just read what i wrote, and im not even sure if i answered your question.

Welcome. Your engine code is F22B1. 145 hp. Intake is the cheapest power adder you will find. You might also want a header and exhaust. That is all I would suggest for that auto. Anything more becomes a waste.

I think alot of us around here are after cheap HP and extracting every last bit of juice out of our cars. Im probably going to eliminate my PS when I do my swap in a month.

Don't invest too much into the engine yet, cause the auto tranny sucks and will probably fail soon. Then do a 5sp swap or get a H22 swap w/ 5sp conversion.

I would drop it next, cause even a slow car can be fun if it handles good.
