Default Twin Cam ZC Cam gears?

I've got a friend with a twin cam ZC and he's taken 0.012" off the head and block. I believe he needs adjustable cam gears to dial the cams back to where they should be. I took a B series cam gear and it lines up correctly. I'm just wondering if anyone has tried to use this on the D series or if the cam hole is the wrong size? Same tooth count and same diameter. Also, which timing belt/water pump should be used since i'm doing them all at the same time.
