Default B20A related to other B-series?

Kind of in an argument with someone right now, he says the B20A from the BA4/BA5 Prelude is the same as a B16/B18/B20(CR-V) and the heads are interchangeable. I've always heard that the B20A isn't really a true B series engine. So am I right or is he? Former Prelude owner here, by the way. 2000 Type SH

There was an attempt to merge B20a block with B16 head some taime ago but never succeeded. Those engines have very little in common.

thats funny. a B18 head bolts right up to a b20, why would'nt a b16 head bolt on a b20.

I think your buddy is right. b16 head on a b20 block is not uncommon

Not a B20B from a CR-V, a B20A from a BA4 Prelude. Honda engine names don't always mean anything, the F22 in the old Accord was a SOHC non-VTEC motor, I also have an F22 in my S2000 and it's a DOHC VTEC. They're not really that similar.

B engine from prelude and B series engines from civic and integra are 2 different family, not same.
