i just bought a ef and the guy i bought it from drop in d16y8 motor in it. the problem is that the check engine light is on and i'm having a hard time starting it up. he said that the timing is off but that shouldn't be the effect of it not starting right? any info would help thanks.

it just has the check engine light on

 

check on wat code the ecu is throwing... so you can narrow it down...

 

pull up the passengeside carpet up front, the ecu will have a red light in the center and it will flash Long=10 short=1
