I figured he was going to re-sign when I read that he would be testing the 800. HRC probably would not have let him ride the bike if they didn't think he was gonna be back next year. Great news for HRC and good news for Sete and Colin's job prospects =P. Sete might not be out of the woods yet though because Ducati is reportedly making a play for Melandri.

Hooray for good news.
I was going to be particularly disheartened if Repsol dropped Hayden after this season.... two years is a long time, though, I wonder how long he can stay at the top of the heap for.

Uh.. huh?
What are you getting at? Are you saying that HRC is holding him back in some way?

I would agree somewhat, since they kept tossing development pieces on his bike and he ddin't have too much say in the matter (I think). He could have ridden much better had he had essentially the same bike all year to build upon instead of new "untested" bits week in and week out.

They are testing most of the development pieces during test days after race weekends, and have lost one session at most (according to his crew cheif) testing parts during the race weekends.
So yes, they are testing things, but no they arent using him as a puppet. And if he wasnt testing new things, then the conspiracy theorists would be up in arms saying that Honda didnt care because they werent sending over new parts.

Maybe that Pedrosa will be HRCs number 1 guy and that Nicky will be the number 2 HRC guy. ie, not getting the latest and greatest stuff?

As far as I know, HRC does not have team orders, and Nicky has been testing far more parts than Dani has this year.

Everyone uses new parts for races..... but they're not throwing stuff out there without testing it.

Should have clarified with new relatively untested parts that HRC only had Nicky using. Read an article on Pedrosa and his bike has essentially remained close to what it was at the start of the season

Well, Nicky *is* their development rider... but HRC is a very calculating group. Then again, there was the race where he had clutch problems and finished 9th. It happens... sometimes HRC does get too caught up in their own Technowankery, but you dont get to the top by not taking chances and failing sometimes.

Most of the bikes have remained close, but teams are still testing new parts... just some more than others
KR Jr and Nicky are testing different frames, but I think most of the testing that is going on is a little less - a new swingarm, or different fork internals, etc. All depends on the team and the goals.

i just want to see him on another bike.
i have a feeling in the next 2 years, pedrosa will take presedence over him, it is inevitable. As much as I despise Pedrosa, once he is dialed in properly, he makes his presence on the track.
I would have loved to see hayden on ducati - hell i would love to see melandri and hayden on the same team - i think that team would have the most fun. two guys who just love the sport, and IMHO are the absolut future after rossi.
pedrosa is too much of a drone

the only reason hayden has been stuck doing testing with stuff is that noone else is qualified to do it. it sucks but eh... If he wins the championship he really helps his career big time in terms of having the ability to negotiate more

I like Pedrosa. I had my eyes on him during his 250 career and I saw Rossi in him. A truly gifted talent.

Both.
He's got the personality of a Jello pudding snack, and he will likely turn into honda's puppet boy over the next few years, especially if hayden moves on after 2008.

would never happen since Rossi is absolutely their #1 guy and since Hayden might get the championship, it'd be nien impossible for the two to coexist on the same team

If you put Hayden (or anyone) head to head on the same bike as Rossi, there is no way he would beat him...
