Default Startup Problem - B18A in EF

I just completed my B18A swap in my 91 Si and when I start it up it jumps to 3000 rpm and stays there. I think i'm forgetting a hose or something...

Any suggestions?

Under my throttle body I see two nipples with no hoses on them...they look like they should be coolant hoses...

are you using the stock map sensor? i think you might need the b18a one, cause on that one there are two units instead of just one like yours. one goes to something with fuel, i think fpr and the other unit goes for vacuum which in my opinion doesnt look right at all. i say vacuum issue going on there

Yea that does look like a open vac ports...check the TPS it should be reading .45v at idle between the red and green wire, also try adjusting the throttle cable, my swap did that becuase I broke the TPS plug off once I fixed it would idle low...There is a vac diafram on the TB on ODB0 cars I believe to control the hot/cold idles where OBD1+ the ECU has more control over it...Don't quote me on that thats what I concluded from some stuff I have seen, in order to get the my car to idle right I set the trhottle cable so start up idles was around 1500 rpms once it runs for a min or so it drop down to normal around 800 or so rpms

no you dont need a b18 map sensor. buy some carb cleaner and spray everything down on your IM and see at which spot does your idle hick up. because carb cleaner will stall your motor so where ever your spraying, if it starts to hick up on the idle then you know its sucking in that carb cleaner and theres your leak

Thats BS you can use either, just make sure you are using one...OBD0 has it mounted on the firewall where OBD1+ has themmounted on the TB

Well is that port on the back of the intake mani plugged? the one someone circled...it also looks like your mp sensor on the fire wall is plugged in but there isn't a vac line going to it?

There is one vac line going to the MAP sensor, and yes the port on the back of the manifold is plugged...

holy expletive. your ***** all fubared.

hook up your map.

hook up your FITV and IACV (FITV might be removed who knows)

also to hook up coolant lines to those spots is a royal **** when the motor is in the car.

good luck.

Isn't my map hooked up? I was told I do not need those coolant ports hooked up as I live in Vancouver and Tb does not need coolant running through it.

What about my IACV?

Ok so it was the throttle cable so nevermind about the jumping to 3000rpm now.

These are the issues now:

-Starts up good
-Idles like ****
-Dies after 1 min
-Hold the gas at a constant rpm and it sounds like crap and stutters
-Sounds good when I rev it up and down

ok do you see the pod that the tb is connected to??????? un plug that and run that hose to your map sensor and the hose that your map sensor is connected to now is suposed to go to the charcole canaster at the pass side of the bay... also if you dont hook up those coolant hoses to the bottom of the tb it WILL idle differently (cold or hot not sure witch) because there is a temperature sensitive mechanical switch that open or closes (not sure i furgot) when the engine gets warm. hope this helps
