swap advice

i have a 00 civic ex. i currently have the stock d16y8. i just got a b18b1 out of a 94 integra. i want to rebuild it and completely build it up before i put it into my civic. i am worndering if i can get some advice on where to start and what i should do to get optimum performance out out of the engine. and i was also wondering if it is smart to put a vtec head on it. thanks

well for starters, your car is a ob2 whereas that engine is obd1

Yeah, convert the harness to ODB-I, it'll make your life easier.

Where should you start... What's the application? Daily driver? Any hp goals?
