hey guys, i have a 1990 civic si, stock a6 with z6 head and manifold, z6 dizzy, converted to obd1 with a stock p28, mods are i-e and the aem adjustable cam gear is set 2degrees to the left...
before i did the obd1 conversion, i was told that it was the crank position sensor in the dizzy that was making my car cut out early, so i decided that instead of replacing the a6 dizzy, i just convert to obd1 and get the z6 dizzy, after i did that, wired vtec up, 4 wire o2, wired the dizzy up, no cel and the car still wont let me rev past 5500 rpm....
the car drives fine normally very torqy and pepy, has power up till about 4500then it starts losing power then cuts off at 5500 rpm...timing is correct, everything is wired correctly but dont know whats wrong with it, any help will be appreciated...someone suggested that the car was running too rich, but i dont really think its the problem b/c my buddie has the same set up and it rev's fine to 7200 rpm....please help....

thanks for the info, i am using a y8 head gasket and everything seems fine when i took off the head to check that too, someone told me that it could be that, but the gasket still looked new....
more help please...
more help please...
could be the coolant temp sensor or something. My old b7 did that, but I am using same ECU with my ZC and it revs to 7200. My b7 never idled right. The ECUs have a built in idiot mechanism to prevent the engine from revving high when the car is cold, which is why I think it is a faulty coolant temp sensor. If it's not that, then it may have something to do with the coolant system.

thanks, will look into that too, i also was told that my timing could be advanced too much, could that cause it to cut out early too???

doubt it
my timing was retarted 40 degrees, and it only acted like a pile under 5500 RPM. It would run strong from there to 7200
