Controlling my car from my phone?
I'm thinking of getting this after seeing it at the HIN show in NYC for my airride and auto-connect keyless entry feature.

yes its a good unit. I been in touch with a rep about carrying them when business picks up.
Anybody remember the Alpine "communicator" some 12-15 years ago, if you had an Alpine car phone you could get the "communicator" plug it into the phone and the alarm and it would phone you if the alarm went off and open a hands free line to the car phone, [without lighting up the phone] so you can hear whats going on and even talk, it would even try you at a second number if the first one did not pick up within a preprogrammed number of rings, it also gave you EXT outputs from a touch tone phone, we had a guy start his car from Hong Kong, and we programed his Hong Kong number into the communicator triggered the alarm and it called him and he could hear and talk to us through his car phone, now that's RANGE

I think that's way overpriced. 400 bucks for a unit that converts serial data to parallel? And you still need a computer to control the unit. I can probably make a unit like that for under $20. Get a box, throw in a microcontroller, a relay driver, and spend some time programming it. I guess that you pay for their software.
