JLB wheel vendor rant!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is my first post on this forum I hope this is the right place for it. Well to start I just got back into Honda's after a long stint with VW and Audi. I decided to start shopping for a Civic after looking at the honda tech forum I'm very impressed by the knowledge and helpfulness of most of the people on this forum. Job well done!!
I contacted JLB after seeing their post in the Market place. To their defense they had great pricing on ther wheels and K-sport coilovers. I purchased the K-sport coilovers and Rota Grid wheels. I spoke with both Ikaro and Dustin very extensivly on what color I wanted (the pictures were vague and tough to distinguish the differance) I was looking for the lightest bronze that looked almost goldish like the TE-37 volk wheels. After completely assuring me of the color, I plainley said I DO NOT WANT THE BROWN ROTA GRID and once again they assured me that they don't even sell that color anymore and the one I was getting was infact the one I wanted. Well I ordered the package deal that they set up for me and they told me they would ship out that day! This was on Wed 2 weeks ago. they didn't even send them out for a week and 2 days. which is fine but sucks that they couldn't just be upfront with me in thefirst place. So I get the wheels yesterday and they are infact DooDoo Brown I called back and politely told thm this is not going to work for me could I exchange them for the ones we agreed on and
amazingly THEY SAID NOOOOO!!!!!!!!! so I basically spent $950 on a set of wheels and tires that they assured me was what I wanted SOOOO all I can say is BEWARE of these guys they are not honest and their customer service is not good at all!!! sorry for the long post.

They don't make them in gold and they have the color I wanted they just sent the wrong one and refuse to do anything about it I've never dealt with abuisness that will not correct they're mistakes or at least prupose a solution.
that is very weird since they have a good reputation on HT. I would try contacting them again maybe even post this in GDD forum and send them a link of it.
BUt this is really weird!

A buddy of mine has a powder coating shop and is going to do all four wheels for just $100 but it's the principal that I shouldn't have to pay for their mistake.
I feel obligated to clear this up for everyone.
The customer called us and asked for the color "closest" to the Volk Bronze. Here is a picture of the color he wanted:

We made our gallery of photos available to him. We sent him this wheel after agreeing on the color he wanted:

As anyone can see, this is the closest match. Anyone who is familiar with Rota also knows that this color (Full Royal Sports Bronze) is the closest match to the Volk Bronze color. We've shipped hundreds of sets out in Full Royal Sports Bronze since it was made 3 years ago, and this is the first person to tell us that it does not look the same. The pictures above give a clear comparison.
When we questioned the customer, he told us that our pictures looked "black and white" to him, and that he couldn't distinguish the color. We don't even have ANY black and white photos.
Under normal circumstances, we would have gladly exchanged the wheels for him. However, these wheels have tires mounted on them already. It is industry standard policy to not accept returns for mounted wheels.
In closing, when we later spoke to the customer it become apparent that he just "didn't like" the color, and he wanted gold wheels. Eventhough he specifically asked for the "Volk bronze" color.
Any customers that have dealt with us know about our flexible return policies (we generally don't even charge restocking fees) and the courtesy that we extend to all of our customers. This customer called, became angry, and hung up on us. That doesn't leave many options to work things out.

Not sure if this is Dustin or Ikaro (sorry for the spelling) you guys know that what I asked for was the light bronze and that I wanted GOLDISH color NOT GOLD like what was on the Civic in the Sept. issue of HCI and no its not a industry standard I have contacted a few wheel companies to see and every one says if they have not been mounted on the car they would except them.WE TALKED EXTENSIVELY about what I wanted and taht is not the pic thats on this forum and when I went to your web site I couldn't pull up the bronze pic which is what I told both of you. And further more guys I didn't even bother contacting you guys back when I opened the other three boxes and found that you DIDN'T even send my black lug nuts. I mean what is the point your customer service was soooo good before. Thanks for the great prices that I do appreciate however you guys should have just been honest I would have just picked another wheel.
Ive delt with JLBmotorsports on 2 different cases. I am on the east coast btw, and it took them less then a week and a half both times to get my Wheel/tire packages to me from the day i ordered them. Great service and products
Fast95eg8 I may be new on this site but I've been moding cars for over 15 years and have never had a problem with a company like this. Looks like your still a noob and what a cry baby that was a good one. If you were in the position I doubt seriously you would be running your mouth off and guys I did do my home work thats WHY I asked for a specific COLOR which I did not get and all I asked was too have them exchange it. Hell I payed $25 for lug nuts they didn't even send. So yes I'm pissed off and I just don't see how that shows that I didn't do MY research.
so you were modding cars at age 14, dealing with companies and customer service?
JLB is awesome, they got me my wheels, see avatar, for a great deal and shipped em really fast.

I personally have had many dealing with JLB I always go through Dustin, and I can say that my deals have been nothing but perfect.
First set of slipstreams that I ordered in 15x6.5 were out of stock, so he sent me another set of 15x7 at no cost to me..
I think I've ordered 2 or 3 sets of wheels from them, and everytime it's on time as described.

I've actually phyiscally been to JLB and got a pretty good deal so I won't go one way or another on this but these are the facts:
If you don't have a picture of the color that you want then you're just screwing yourself. For the simple fact that you can't show a person what you want. Out of everything that you've said you never said that you showed them a picture. You should have said, "I want this color can you get it for me?" It's not that hard, matter of fact, if it's a color that you can't really describe Texas is big enough to have some paint the rims for you. So in one way or another that's your fault, if you've been doing this for 15 years you should know to cover your basis
Not harping on you but don't complain if you didn't do everything you could have. I've been to JLB and they have an alot of colored rims everywhere and it's hard to be specific if you don't have anything to base it off of. As far as I can tell you got what you asked for.
As far as JLB is concerned saying no to a refund that's b.s. I live in California and I wouldn't take no for an answer (I wouldn't be in this situation either). That's poor customer service cause if there was any glimmer of doubt in the color or a customer is upset they should try harder than a "no" to make you happy. They shouldn't have said, "no" and let it go just like that. Then come on the thread to fix things, if they wanted to fix it they'd take the damn rims back and charge you a restocking fee (like most companys would). This is a transaction error and something both people could learn from. JLB has always done good business but event he best companies make mistakes.
The rims are....decent, next time you want some rims go with the color from that specific company. This is what you get for going with knockoffs in the first place

Yes Aaroboost I was moding my first car at 14 that was a '68 Camaro my father and I picked from a junkyard and restored it completely right down to the wiring every little thing was brand new and yes I did about 75% of the dealing with the companies since it was my car
I only had the picture from the magazine HCI they both said they knew exactly what it I was looking for and lets make a few things clear I'm not pissed that the shipping took so long thats not that big of a deal I do love the wheels they just sent the wrong color plain and simple as well as not sending the lug nuts I ordered and straight up refused to do anything about it and guys I know they have a great reputation on here THATS the REASON I decided to use them. Sooo what most of you guys are saying is it's acceptable for a company to have bad customer service as long as it's not with you personally. So I guess I should just suck it up and not say anything. Anyways if thats the best most of you guys can say then don't bother responding because it's rediculous and makes you sound like an idiot.
It doesn't matter if they haven't been mounted on the car, it's whether or not TIRES have been mounted on them. You just should've been more clear on what you wanted, done more research and been nicer on the phone. Simple as that. Everytime I've contacted JLB, they've handled my situation. Hope you guys can work something out.
It's pretty obvious that you screwed up. The picture JLB posted is THE color you want if you want it to look like Volk Bronze. If you wanted gold, you should have said GOLD! But as far as I know, they don't even make Grid in gold, and JLB would NEVER say they make a color if they really didn't.
You said you just got back into the scene... do more research next time.
As for the lug nuts, thats also your own fault for not just letting them know. You said yourself that you "didn't even bother to tell them". I know their business practices and if they forgot the lugs, they would send them ASAP!

I was very polite on the phone which I can assure you even they will admit to that. There is no excuse to be rude especially if your trying to get something accomplished. After they straight up said NO I opened the other boxes and had the tires taken off so I can have them powder coated the color I asked for. Maybe I haven't made myself clear they do have the color I wanted they just sent the wrong ones simple as that. Just a small mistake anyone could have made. I'm not mad they made a mistake I'm just disappointed and very frustrated that they didn't want to do anything about it. I wouldn't have said they didn't send the lug nuts if I hadn't opened the other boxes that wouldn't be right. All in all I simpley couldn't just let it go without saying something and since this is the place were I found them this is were I decided to say it. Had they had some sort of solution anything at all I wouldn't be ranting on but to just say no to a customer when the company makes a mistake is just wrong period!!!!!!!!!
Ok I don't even know why this is still going on but anyways!
What I don't understand is what is the color you want. Because to my knowledge the grids are not made in GOLD. Not calling you stupid or anything I am just getting confused about the color you want.
I am saying your right or wrong! But there is a solution to everything!

Possible the buyer is partially color blind?
