Default Tein suspensions, need advice.

Alright, I'm torn between the Flex and Super Street (With or without pillowball?).

I know flex is more competition and race oriented, while super street is street and comfort.

For anyone who knows these systems well, here is my question.

If I want a ride that when i run over bumps, and hit potholes, it doesnt feel like the shock is absorbed by the frame. IE (hard slam that hurts your spine) As well as one that can take corners at much higher speeds with much lower body roll than stock... (I know good tires help too)

Currently the stock SI suspension is decent with bumps and holes, but a little weak on cornering to me. I take corners (during spirited driving) about 10-20mph over suggested limit signs and get a fair amount of body roll sensation.

I'm having a hard time finding detailed descriptions of the FLEX and Super Streets. Even by looking on Tein's website. I am going to ask the Tein dealer down the street from my house what they think, but I want some other opinions as well.

yeah EDFC looks awsome, seeing as how im going to have the suspension installed by pros, I will proly get that done. Wonder where a good place to keep the box would be, I was thinkin in the center console or glove compartment.

I had Tein Super Streets on my TSX with a progress rear sway bar....

Nothing but creaks and squeeks.. if you research it you will find ALOT Of people with mystery sounds from Tein.... I swore after the basics on my ep3 that i would never go tein again but due to nothing else being out i purchased the SS for the tsx & the same goes for the si... i was going to get flex this time

when i came upon the megan's, from all the research they are built by the company that makes Apex-i half the price and pillow mounts.. 32 way adjustable and fully warranttteeeeeeed

I'd go that route, mine ship this week once they are installed they will be auto-x'd on october 7th and reviewed

as far as i can tell, tein has a 1yr warranty, and they also have super streets with pillowmounts, as well as $5 'spring insulators' in case they are squeaky.

It is the bushing, and design.

Tein is shoddy on their design,
when the basics came out for the ep3, i was having alot of trouble
on the phone with the techs daily.
SO much that they actually UPDATED that another oem part was needed during installation.

When your customer has to do your research for you by having problems and you update via that.....

that is NOT a good company

I called a Tein dealer yesterday to check on pricing of the SuperStreets with Pillow Mounts (SS-P) and I was told that the pillow mounts were not yet available for the FG2. Nor are the Type Flex at this time.

Hopefully that means they are still doing R&D to eliminate any problems...

I particularly want the pillow mounts and can wait, but I have spoken with a few FG2 owners that have Tein SS's and they are happy with them.

I am glad they are not out yet, this way I can wait for a few fellow FG2 owners to put on the Megan's and get some good feedback and might end up going that way over the Teins. The price is definitely right on the Megans.

Back to your original question, I think you should do the same as me and wait until the SS with pillow mounts are released and by that time (hopefully soon), we will have a few more peoples impressions of the Megans.

This is exactly what my concern is with Tein. I was discussing upgrading my suspension with my mechanic on Monday. He was recommending the Super Street (I guess they are coilovers?). The other alternative he suggested was S-Tech Springs and new shocks to fit.

I really want to drop the car a 1" to 1.5" and improve the cornering (I don't race, but I like to go fast around turns). However, I really do not want any new noises. I like the look with the S-Tech as well, so that is the solution I am concidering.

You think I would be better off with the set-up you mentioned above since noice is a big issue for me?

Do you need height adjustment?
Springs with shocks are not bad if they are done together and you know what size rims setup your going for... dont want any rubbing issues etc etc

in NY ... we have snow so driving around slammed isn't the SMARTEST THING

i had Tein SS with the EDFC...EDFC was in the front lil pocket right beneath the AC controls...

i got rid of them...they just weren't agressive enuff even on the stiffest setting for me....that is after i installed the turbo and all that...was going to wait on the Flex but i figured they'd be too stiff ...

i now have megans...they are stiffer than the tein SS for sure...haven't had a chance to really test them out yet...but they ride nice...had a bottoming out issue in the rear but i just extended the strut travel and that took care of it...

there's no Megan that's eual to the tein SS....

the Tein SS for the 06 Si will not have pillow ball uppers...so don't think about it...
i know cuz when i had them i called a number of times to ask...they told me they won't be making them...i'd have to get the Flex for that...so if u have the Tein SS u'll be using the stock upper mounts...

The Megans are more closely related to the Tein Flex...
