Why would it be just for the EX model only? Would it not work for the LX? I thought they were basically the same, without the power trunk and sunroof.

The engines are the same. It should work fine. Only difference may be the actual exhaust piping?

This part replaces the second section of exhaust that sits under the engine, the factory cat section that holds the sensors stays. I haven't played around with my Ex model (yet), is the OEM pipe really that poorly designed that it would cause a restriction without any other mods to the engine? I'd be suprised if that were true.

I would say that would do...not much.

Yeah considering that after the downpipe, you're back to the relatively skinny oem piping again. Downpipes work best with cat-backs I would think.

but....what if you had a catback..the outlet on the downpipe is 2.5 which would end up being stright through downpipe back for me....i think id help, does anyone know the stock diameter of it?

Hmm. Intersting. I wonder how true though those numbers are. A catback only yields around 5hp and this pipe will add 10. I need to see some dyno sheets on this.

I've seen dyno figures in Sport Compact Car magazines or Turbo magazines post equal amounts of HP increase or more with a downpipe than would a cat-back exhaust. But these of course were cars with existing Turbos. The two I can remember are a Toyota MR2 Turbo and a WRX. If anyone is interested and is a subscriber to tuner magazines, maybe you can start digging those old issues out and see for yourself if a downpipe is worth it or not.
