Default ABS light on with new brakes

I took my car to a local shop to have the brakes changed the the rotors shaved. I had to bring the car back a few days later to have the rotors re-shaved since they didnt do it right. The brakes now work great, but the ABS light came on soon after I left the shop. I brought the car back and they swear it is just a coincidence and the ABS light being on has nothing to do with the brake job they did. I know that has to be B.S.

What could they have done to cause this problem? Is it their fault? How could I prove they caused this to happen?

you will need to check the code but i could be possible that they knocked a wheel speed sensor into the pickup ring or something like that...

Just in case, check your ABS oil reservoir. Make sure it has oil up to the MAX line.

I couldn't really tell you exactly where it is but just look under the hood around the engine and check the caps on all your reservoirs and there should be two caps that will state to use DOT 3 or 4 brake fluid, one is brake line fluid and the other is ABS fluid, and if you have a manual trans there should be another reservoir for the clutch that also uses DOT 3 or 4. Just top them all off as close to the MAX line as you can get it and hope it works.

I had my light go on a few times and everytime I just added a little more oil in the ABS reservoir and the light did go out. It's been about 2 years without it going on.

Good luck

BTW, since your looking under the hood also check all your other fluid levels. Engine, power steering, coolant, AUTO trans dipstip(if manual you gotta get under the car and back off a screw)etc These have nothing to do with your light being on but it will keep your car from breaking down from something else.
