its pretty safe to say the fuel filter has NEVER been changed in my car, its a 94 civic. I went to change it (with the proper flare nut wrench) and its not coming off, its siezed on and if i turn it any harder i will bend the lines

the only thing i can think of doing is cutting the fuel lines and putting on new ones. How do i go about this, you have to flare it out i guess to add the nut and a washer..what do i do?

 

You're supposed to be using two open ended wrenches when removing a fuel filter, that's why you're afraid of bending the lines. If you look on the filter it has a provision for a wrench under the banjo fitting. This will keep the filter steady while you remove the banjo bolt.

 

Heat it up!

It'll come off easy.

 

hold the line as you undo the bolt. My bro's was rusted to **** and we got it off. No way you can't!!

should have mentioned i have tried this too and the line actually starts to bend because of the amount of force im putting on the nut to get it to spin! its seriously siezed on there

doing a full tune on the car, my car's gas mileage is hovering in the 24-25mpg mark with a b16

i know the line goes all the way to the rear of the car, but i should be able to cut it and add a new one..how do i do that is my question

 

are you turning the bolt clockwise or counter clockwise?

 

Just put some elbow grease on it and have a friend hold the line.

I'd risk bending the fuel line before I cut it off That's just common sense, now isn't it? Who selects number two when their choices are 1.) risk damaging it or 2.) utterly destroy it?

Soak the **** in PB Blaster for a day or so and then do it again. Correctly. Brace the line with vice-grips if you have to.

although I assume nobody has suggested this because of some issue with mixing it with fuel. I have no clue what effect residual wd40 would have on fuel.

but wd40 worked when I was trying to get off the spindle nut for my axle. and that **** was seized I was hitting the end of my breaker bar with a sledge hammer and that didn't move it. sprayed some wd40 on there and waited a few minutes and it came right off.

 

Don't use wd40. It's not a penetrating fluid. Penetrating oil eats the rust off so it'll slide right off.
