Two years ago an excellent Honda repair shop in Seattle recommend that I change out the Oxygen sensor and install a Honda kit consisting of a purge kit (I have no idea what this is?) and 2 injectors. They said that Honda put out a TSB recommending replacing the 2 injectors with this new purge kit and 2 new injectors. They also mentioned something about the new purge kit having a reduced orifice. Questions:
Oxygen sensor- What symptoms notify you that your oxygen sensor is bad? Is there any difference between buying a Honda OEM oxygen sensor $199 and a bosch universal oxygen sensor for $20?

Does anyone know anything about a TSB recommending replacing the 2 injectors with this new purge kit and 2 new injectors? TSB number and part numbers would be helpful. Also symptoms of a bad injectors.

I've used a Bosch o2 sensor with no troubles at all. To hell with a $200 one!!!

Never heard of an injector recall.....if it ain't broke.....

Are you having problems with fuel delivery or gas mileage?

A problem with o2 sensor or injectors should trip your check engine light either way.

 

I think the car drives great. Maybe a little hesitation during highway acceleration, I have not been tracking fuel economy. It does go through mufflers about every 4 years. My 2001 muffler does not have any holes yet but the tail pipe rotted off so that I had to remove the crome tip before it fell off, but I figured this probably because I do a lot of very short drives (2 miles) and the exhaust system never really warms up. The check engine light has come on in the past a couple of times but only when I drove it right onto the highway after work. Now that I know where to find the codes I will have to pull up the carpet and check it out next time. In the past I just turned off the ignition off then on the highway and the check engine light disappeared.
