Default swapable seats between 89 90 91

I am having a discussion with fellow ef'er about this issue.

I have myself removed seats from a 91 si and installed them into my 89 si without any mods and he is telling me its not possible, they would not fit.

does anyone know which seats are swappable between 88-91 without modification?

I've always thought 88-89 had different rails than 90-91? Or is that only for the crx?

if you've personally done it yourself like you said you have and it worked, then why are you even on here asking us because you already know

Here is the Deal. All 88's had different rails then the 90-91. Some 89's had 90-91 rails and seatbelt in door. some did not. i ahve an 89 with seatblets and an 89 without. it is all about the date the car was made. i dont know the dates. it is possible to swap 91 seats in a 89 if they are the newer 89s. The 88 are guaranteed not to have seatblets in doors and have differnt rails. That is from my experience

For the crx, the 88 is the only one with different seat brackets/sliders, the 89-91 have 3 of the same holes in the floor, but the bolt hole closest to the center console in the rear is off by 4 inches compared to the 88. I know this from experience, and It's not a direct swap into an 88 crx unless it's a 88 seat, or you have the 88' seat bracket's/sliders mounted to the different seat.

I've had a 90 and a 91 Si, the seats swap over no problem. My friend has a 90 HF, and had to swap pans to get an 89 Si seat in (it may have been an 88, I haven't seen the old rails, we were told it was 89). I also have a set of 88 Si seats (:cough: for sale) that will not bolt in. I know someone else who bolted in 91 Si seats into his 89 Si.

So aside from the HF problem, which I'm not 100% on, 89-91 seats are interchangeable. Also 88 seats can be easily fit into a first gen CRX with slight modding.

I'm only talking about CRXs, don't know about civics.

Just pick up a sparco seat bracket for your car and mount whatever you want. There are two different part numbers for 91 and for earlier, so I'd assume that is a confirmation the rails are different.

So would this be a good rule of thumb?

"If you have an 89-91 civic/crx with the same seat belt location (i.e. door or pillar), then seats are intercheangable."

The 88's were just wierd in general, must be because they have Type R lca's.

88 has the different seat belt mounts the frame not the door..
so 88 bottoms only bolt on to 88's..

Top sections are swapable, between all the years..

heres the REAL deal.

89 HF's only had carryovered the 88 seat belts for one extra year. thats why you encountered an 89 that are like the 88's.
