Default Skunk2 Pro1's in a B18C5 Good or Bad???

Im in the middle of building my NA ITR motor, the bottom end is staying stock except for arp rod bolts. The head is being milled to put the compression up to anywhere around a 11.8:1 to 12:1. I am also doing S2 springs and retainers. The motor is being tuned with hondata s200 on 93 pump gas. My main question is, are the pro1's going to be my best bet for power or are they overkill for my set up?

I would opt for the Pro2's.

An employee dyno'ed at 194 with his stock motor USDM ITR with the Pro2's on our DynoJet.

How much material do you plan on taking off the head? You are going to be approaching the service limit if you want to create a CR near 12:1 with just milling.

Im taking 0.030 off the head, the guy building my motor, Mike at TSR Performance said that i should see something close to a 12:1 but not qiut that. Maybe like 11.8:1. The reason im shooting for the S2 Pro Series Cams rather than the regular S2 Vtec Cams is because i want something that is going to be more aggressive and have better midrange power, But I am concerned with idle issues with the Pro1's. Considering this is going to be daily driver. I do plan on doing more mods in the future though. S2 Intake Manifold, S2 TB, Hytech Header, RSR Exhaust, Walbro fuel pump, RC 370cc injectors, and a PnP with a Dyno Tune. Maybe the Pro2's would be better for me in the long run???

just get a thinner head gasket and flat valves to bump up your compression

The car will idle just fine! I put the pro2's in on a skunk2 chipped p28 and the thing idle okay by just adjusting the throttle position screw- Also after a tune on neptune the car practically idles like stock! I would say go pro2

Your car won't idle like crap with the pro1's if you have a good turner. They just require some work to get them to idle thats all.

I've heard that the pro1's are worthless! When my car was tuned I was told that the pro2 are a much much better cam!

Id go with the pro 2's and i would just resurface the head and put a thinner head gasket because if you mild to much later on down the road if you blow a head gasket and worp the head, the head will become trash. You can also get high compression valves.

Pro1's are definately not crap. Pro2 are good cams with a setup that compliments them.

92TypeR, how did the area under the curve look of that stock block with the pro2's?

The only reason im not doing Pro1's is because i want more midrange power, and like i said before, i am concerned with the idle issues with the Pro1's. Also my valvetrain set up and my compression should be decent for the Pro2's i think.

What other supporting mods were on the car?
