My friend recently failed his smog test and asked me if he could use some of the parts off my EG. The parts he needs are as follows:
-94 SI cat
-D16Z6 Distributor
Just trying to figure out if these would work on his 88 CRX SI.
TIA.

Hmmm. On the cat, maybe get a tape measure and see if the lengths/diameter are the similar.
Does his CRX have an OBD-I setup?

Neg, obd0 set up. Stock 88 Si.. just needs to pass smog so he can register it.

I don't think that OBD-I dizzy is going to pass the visual inspection at the smog place, if it functions correctly at all. You are going to have to repin the OBD-0 chassis side harness into the OBD-I dizzy side of the harness.
I don't think it will even work man... You may be better off getting ahold of one on the classifieds here for cheap, maybe he can trade something cool for it or something?

Hmm no need for him to trade me. I'm just trying to be a good friend and get him the parts he needs to pass. I kinda thought the distributor wouldnt work being that it's an obd1. But i was hoping the cat would bolt up.. and figured someone would know off the top of their head that it would or not.
Actually I was just saying that maybe he can trade some random belongings of his (i.e. DVD's, car parts, etc) to get the dizzy off of a member on here in the classifieds.
I guess you guys have replaced the cap/rotor?
As for the cat... I say you pull it off your car at his house or vice versa and see if it is similar. Wouldn't hurt.
