do not do this hybrid, it is highly unreliable. lets just say it took (i forgot their name) 3 motors before they got this head swap running right.

gude...just curious. but since you say it is unreliable...but whoever finally got it running right...is their set-up reliable or working?

Sushi X, I have talked to a couple of people that have done this swap with no problems. One guy told me to take all the components that the timing belt touches on the H22 and swap it over to the H23, And you have to plug a hole on top of the block. Anyways I will let you know how the one i'm doing goes, when it is done.
Go to hondaplex.com, it has a how-to but I don't think it went well for this guy, but just to give you an idea of what you need

I ran that set up 4 years ago. It ran just fine. I switched back to H22a for higher rpms so i can't really tell you bout longevity.

one of my friends has a h23 with h22vtec head in a 95 accord ex 4door. he's spent alot of money and time trying to make it run right. Last week he only ran a 16.4(which is a fast as my stock crx si) I's sad... but in his words(I'm in it too deep to just give up with my hybird" I hope he gets it running right.

nice you planning to go turbo? or NA?

*I just remembered that a successful h23vtec swap was from atomic/import builders. Jeff had a h23vtec in his civic for a number of years and it was running reliable. just a thought.

you can just put h23 crank and rods in a h22, same priceable but much easier

Thanks Brian,

I'm getting the block honed and the crank had to be centerline bored and balanced since there were no markings on it....The alternator stud was also bent when it got here....

Hi sorry bout that UPS sucks. Are you sure its not the A/C stud? There are 2 at the bottom. The alternator does not have studs. Well im glad things are coming along. Let me know if you need anything else or help with anything. Thanks!

Probably a USDM or JDM H22a tranny.

I am build an h22/23 hybrid. So far it is working out great. The oil squirters from the H22 have been placed on a h23 block and the h23 crank has been Balanced. The rods are h23 and pistons are type SH. This is very similar to the "Top Secret" stroker kits availible from Japan, except they have slightly more compression (type s pistons) and their cranks are ceramic coated. The only weak link I am worried about is the cylinder sleeves. They are stock. This engine has a higher rod ratio than my current stroker, so it should last for a while, but depends on how High the thing will be reved. I plan to rev it to 8000 RPM.

SO the piston speed is not a factor in all this. I thought the speed of the piston was the major issue with the 2.3/vtec. That the piston would be moving at such i high speed it would melt the sleeve. Please let me knoe, I'd like to learn more about this. e-mail if possible about your findings. Thanks.

piston speed is a huge factor, but if my "stroker" which has a lower rod ratio can handle the Revs and last, then this one should do the same.

Top Secret does not make anything for our cars! You must be mistaken. If you mean Top Fuel kit the crank is also ballenced.
