Default fuel pump question and suspension questions(edited)

1st
I replaced my fuel pump in my 91 rx but did not replace the strainer.
The strainer does not fit perfectly.
My car runs out of gas with at least 1/4 tank left
is this the cause?

2nd
While jacking the rear of the car up to pull the tank and check the pump, I noticed that the trailing arm bushings are looking bad on both sides.
The car has at least 240k mi on it(prevowner disconnected speedo so I cant be exact)
how much should the bushings worry me?

Well those bushings are what keep your trailing arms inline and stops them from just going all 'squiggly' and passive rear wheel steer on your ***. If you have the time and the money, change them out.

whoa!!!!
you mean I can have 4wheel steering and it's free?

looking in my factory manual.....I cant see that shown apart from the trailing arm,is the bushing replacable or do I get the whole trailing arm?
( see the other bushing replacements discussed but not those)
what should I pay for those things?

will it need special tools?

anything I should avoid or seek out as far as mfgs?

anyhelp u got

You can replace that bushing now seperate from the control arm, and the great news is that the new part number is the same piece that Mugen uses. I paid online through magauto I believe 25.xx a bushing. You will need a special tool to remove it without taking the trailing arm off the car, but it can be done without if you dont mind removing the trailing arm.

Has anyone been able to get their bushings swapped out by a dealer under the :

"Service Bulletin 00-006 (dated December 11, 2001) authorizing the replacement of damaged bushings"

mentioned here:

?

or is that a tail pipe dream at this point?

also....
if those bushings go while I am driving, is it catastophic or will I still have control?

Well the bushing can't go 100%, it can crack and can break but its just not all going to fall out at once. I didn't try and have my trailing arms fixed since I had swapped over Integra Arms.
