Benefits to using Z6/Y8 intake mani over A6 intake mani
Guys
Ive just picked up my 5th CRX last week sometime. I picked it up with the intentions of just selling it, but after driving for a week, I think im going to hang on to it for a while. 3 of my previous CRX's were all 88-91 style, and the first one being an 86 HF.
The 88-91 CRX's were all swapped to Z6's. Lots of kids in my area doing b-series swaps in their EG's led to me getting ahold of several Z6's. Two of the CRX's were Si's and one was an HF. I tackled the DPFI to MPFI by myself and had the entire swap completed in a day, and w/out issue.
My imagination has got me wondering what gains I would see by keeping the Z6 manifold on the motor. Typically when i swapped the Si's, I would just strip the Z6 block of its alternator, pulley, drivers motor mount, intake manifold, and upper water neck, swap the A6 parts onto the Z6 block, wire up an rpm activated switch, and its a pretty clean-cut operation.
I searched through the FAQ section but didnt see much on using the whole Z6 motor/manifold setup, but I did find a faq on using a Y8 manifold. There was no mention of what ECU to run (I would assume you'd wnat to run P28 for OBD-1)
Another Z6 engine and trans came up for sale in the area for 350,and I'm probably going to go pick it up this weekend in preparation for this setup. My Si motor has 210k miles on it and I'd like to throw the Z6 block/head in at least
Anyways, if you can point me towards a good thread, or throw-out some good info here, i'd appreciate it
