Default Tire choice dilemma...slower MPH with slicks?

Ive never run slicks before, but am at the point I think I want to try them. My problem comes in that I am using my stock ITR wheels 15x6. M&H makes a slick that will fit my stock wheel just fine. However it is the same diameter as my 205/50 Azenis. When I run my Azenis at the track, I am hitting the top of 4th gear at the line, basically tapping the rev limiter. I DO NOT want to shift to 5th in the 1/4. Will running a SLICK the same size as my STREET tire have a slower MPH? Or will I still be hitting the top of 4th gear at the line? Otherwise Im thinking I should just run 225/50 BFGs but would rather not because they are on the heavy side and would rather run a true slick anyway to cut down my 2.2 60ft. But they would give me a bit longer gearing and I probably wouldnt banging the limiter in 4th at the line.

Suggestions?

depending on how bad you're spinning you mph could go down

raise the revlimit a few hundred rpms.. why cant you get a taller tire?

the BFGs are taller but Id rather go with a slick to really get my 60ft down. but since Im on stock ITR wheels, I dont know of any other taller slicks that will fit a 15x6 wheel. if there are, then Ill definitely go that route. Im already revving to 9K, dont want to go any higher.

I called John at M&H, very nice guy. He said the 8.5/24.5x15 will fit the stock ITR wheel. I just dont know if that is going to clear my control arms. I would assume they are pretty damn wide? and the car is dropped about 3/4" in the front.

In your best guess, how close am I going to be with 3/4" drop in the front. They arent adjustable either so I cant raise it up to stock height.

Have you thought about the M&H Racemasters in 23x7.5x15

you probably will be ok with control arms but I don't know about the fenders. they may rub at lock on the fenderwells

The 24.5/8/15 should not be an issue at all. I was running them on an EG/H22 all motor car before, and had zero clearance issues. The car was also running Competition Engineering traction bars.
