Default The urban legend has a heart...in progress

Here is a little progress from 2 weeks ago that I haven't had the time to upload. This is a B-series motor I am building for the NHRA SFWD class car I am going to build this winter. The shortblock would've been done tonight but my stupid ring compressor decided to crap out on me last night. I hope to get the car in or before winter and get the cage, parachute, and suspension done before the opener. Damn, should've never sold my chassis

Darton sleeves cut to 81mm and honed

crank already mic'd, clearenced, and torqued in with ARP main studs.

rings all filed, fitted, and installed onto the matching JE pistons installed on eagle "big bolt" rods. I'm gonna try to see when these rods will let go.

JDM ITR head after getting resurfaced at DG motors. Ferrea stainless valves, skunk valvetrain and cam gears.

I will get shots of everything else when I finish the new turbo manifold. I need a car to Jig it up in though.

that's it for now, will keep you guys updated. For now, I'm waiting on my new ring compressor set from Race Engineering and I gotta finish up a D-series build for a local racer as well because I've been putting it off for a while now because of my new job.

If you're car was the urban legend before art's, then that was like 100 years ago and you need to stop talking about it, get off the damn internet, and get it done!!!

acutally, it's sad but it has been but I sold the old car and everything else with it so it doesn't count.

I need an 81mm tapered ring compressor if anybody has one. I can't wait for RE anymore.

I promise this one won't take as long. It's only been almost a year since I've been collecting

What kind of equipment was used for the resurfacing? Belt or fly cutter?

Just curious, I havent seen a finish like that fresh off a resurfacing machine, looks more like someone took a scotch-brite wheel to it. Maybe they cleaned it up with one.

Looks pretty good. One question though, why is the crank fluted on both sides of the oiling hole? I've always only done the one side so it scavenges and directs oil towards crank rotation.....you might lose a little oil control with it on both sides. Sorry, I dont mean to nitpick!! Also might want to look into using Ferrea retainers and keepers to go with the valves, it could save you an engine Good luck with it

I will vouch for Paul, I sold him parts I think even before Art has his build going down!! Shoot, even back in '99 when we started the build of our CRX everyone called my car the Urban Legend, so Art doesn't own that name...there are some other more OG's. Art just figured out how to Hollywood the name

Good luck with the build, if you ever complete the project once again
