Default what to do with 2k

well im in a bit of a dillema. i got over 2k to spend and im not sure if i should just spend it on an engine swap or get a E36 328. i currently drive a EF sedan which is all stock and it has no ***** at all lol. i've driven my friends EF hatch which has a b16 with intake and exhaust and man that car has some go but no torque at all. i like how the engine sounds though when its high in the RPM range. so the thing is i was thinking about doing an engine swap or just get that BMW. so what would you guys do in this situation. i was thinking of saving up a lil bit more and do a GSR or an ls vtec swap.

Get a B18A for a few hundred, buy the needed mounts, linkage, etc.

From there, save up some more and buy a used turbo setup off of the classifieds here for about $1,500.

With like $3k or less you could have a powerful sedan with good torque. N/A Honda engines suck unless the car is tubbed out to weighing less than a ton or unless it is in the 200+ whp range in a light chassis.

honestly ide have a LS swap done 92 and up but yea its a good platform to start with then do minor bolt ons and save up for a b16 a head and save up for your ctr pistons and wut not and build on from there and deff get a s1cable trans it will heavily increase ur 1/4 times

I say get the cheapo B18A in there and running. Get it turboed. Then worry about the VTEC heads after it is all said and done. Choosing to go LS/VTEC before turbo would just mean he would have to continue to drive a horribly slow and torqueless(but noisy) engine for that much longer.

If he turbos it first then swaps head after, he will be a lot happier. And the cost of a used good condition turbo kit (or a starter's brand new Greddy kit) is about the same cost as a VTEC conversion when you account all of the stuff needed like the head, etc.

The main difference between the two is that the LS-T will have 100+ more hp/tq at half of the engine speed as an LS-VTEC. To make any measurable power with an LS-VTEC you have to rev the living hell out of it.

To me, an LS-T making more tq at 4000 rpms than a VTEC engine at 8000+ seems a little more desirable.
