Y5 intake manifold = Y8 intake manifold
The coveted D16Y8 intake manifold (which hit $130+ on ebay more than once recently) is functionally the same as the D16Y5 intake manifold. It's hardly a surprise considering that the throttle bodies are the same diameter and the heads are the same part number, just different valve trains. The only differences between them are that the Y5 has provisions for EGR (easily blocked off as shown in the pics), and a small vacuum port is moved to the throttle body side. Weight difference is negligible being that it's made of aluminum.

Now join me in scouring the internet for posts from people 1) that have swapped their Y5 mani for a Y8 mani, 2) recommended you swap your "restrictive" Y5 mani for a Y8 mani, 3) paid bloated ebay prices for a Y8 mani while there were Y5 manis that sold for much much less. That way we can ridicule and demean them. There are a few. That's what inspired this post.
Also of note are the fact that the Z6, Y5, and Y8 VTEC solenoids are all the same. The Y5 and Y8 fuel rails are interchangeable, but not with the Z6.
How to make a EGR block off plate: mock up a piece of paper to cover the EGR hole. Use it as a template to cut out a piece of gasket paper, cut out a piece of sheet metal, and if your sheet metal is pretty thin, cut a piece of thicker metal to brace it. Torque the nuts to spec. If you live in a non-freezing climate, go ahead and do the same thing with your FITV.

Alot of people dont use the y5 manifold because of the EGR setup and i believe the y5 is also a 3wire IAC so that still involves the tapping for the 2 wire IAC. I think manual y8s are better cause there plug and play right off the bat and they're a cleaner look.
The IACVs are interchangeable. An automatic Y8 is easy to drill and tap for the IACV as well.
Cleaner look?! Yeah, cleaner wallet! I don't see how spending that much more for pure looks is justified. I thought Civics were about budget performance. Otherwise you spend the extra cash for a real sports car.
