Whats up guys, just wanted to ask some quick questions. I want to buy a Del Sol with the DOHC B16A2, what are some cosmetic differences between the DOHC vtec and the SOHC vtec. What are the DOHC 0-60 times and also E.T. times. Also are they worth buying cause Ive heard many bad things that they are really slow and heavy. Any other info will be appreciated, Thanks
check out http://www.teamdelsol.com
sols are not heavy and if you get the B16A3 model, your not going to be slow.
dont' waste your time on the S model or the SI model.. now those are slow..

Could get a high mileage Si and do a swap.....I have a 93 Si w/99 B16A2 (from a Civic Si). Nice, probably running close to or at 15 dead (can match my buddy's 99 Eclipse GST) with intake, hondata stage 2 (P28), no p/s, 107k miles on cat and stock exhaust (restriction city!).
S models are crap for drivability (no "creature comforts"), but are a little lighter. Si's have all the goodies, 4 wheel disc, etc, etc, etc.
VTEC models (B16A2/3) run anywhere from 6.5-7.5 0-60, 15.1-15.8 1320 (mag racing).

no cosmetic differences on outside except for a DOHC paint thing on side and back maybe.
Brakes and suspension were different on 94 and 95 Si's from the VTEC which had better I think.
I though Del Sol VTEC was b16a3?

I was also thinking of doing that, getting a B16 for my CRX. But in Cali its too much trouble for the smog test, and cops are a bitch. Dont want to go through all the trouble and also swapping an engine, Im pretty stupid at mechanics so if I have any trouble with the engine it will be too costly. Rather just buy a car with some built in Bseries engine or a Prelude. Anyone know of a way to have a legal hybrid in CA?

there isn't much difference between similar hatchback models and del sol models weight wise. The Del Sol Si weighs 14 more pounds than a civic hatchback Si
cosmetic wise there is a DOHC sticker on the back right side of the car (I've never seen one on the side of the car...). If you have an eye for detail, look at the exhaust tip, there's definitely a difference between the VTEC & S/Si models. Besides that, you can check the tach (8k redline). They'll all have alloys too (as does the Si)
As for weight, they do weigh more due to the reinforcements for the pop-top. While the Si may weight slightly more than a Si hatch, the VTEC weighs more than the Si.
Overall, they're fun cars, you can tell a difference in chassis rigidity w/ top on/off and they do need a bit more bracing for the suspension but all the stuff about being too heavy or being a "wet noodle" is b.s. As with any honda, you can make them go (whether that be down the 1320 or around the cones)

Performance-wise, it won't/shouldn't make a difference. With the B16A2, you may run into OBDII issues (I'm using the P28 rechipped with Hondata stage 2 on a 99 Civic Si B16A2). Other than that, there's no real difference I can think of aside from the possible wiring differences with the OBDII motor. The Civic Si (99-00) had the worst wiring harness - I had to use one from a Type R to make it work right.
