Crx can't pass smog!
I tried and tried to pass smog with every little parts being new or oem used but can't get it to pass smog.
A little frustrated but I would like to keep my crx to death do us part.
What other stuff can I try? My NoX is too high on the smog chart.
I heard alot of people with smog do it under the table..!!
Anyone in NorCal that can help me with some under the table would be nice! Have cash in hand! I'm desperate! Want to see my crx driven on the road again. DAMN!
PS: I spent well over 540 bucks on smogging from different people through the months. Just felt like I got jipped!

you might need a new catalytic converter. i did for mine, and i also replaced the o2 sensor, and the plugs and wires, cap and rotor, and oil and filter. when you do replace the cat and the o2 sensor, make sure you run that baby hard on the freeway with 91 octane to get a cleaner burn, and get the cat nice and hot. i also used something from kragen called "garenteed to pass"
It would help if you had listed the motor and a list of what you have done, along with the numbers off the test.
There are alot of things associated with Nox, we can get you there just need some help from you. It's NOT gonna be an illegal smog!, but I can help you in getting a proper test, trouble shooting.
I'm in San Ramon if that is close to you. 680 and Crow Canyon.

i'm having crx smog problems too, my gauge cluster wires are hacked. and they need the check engine light for smog. let me know if you find anyone that can "help" you out...

Geez, Wiring up an check engine light is easy, what are you waiting for...Fix it!
One of the functional inspections and it has to be there and working.
Just the CEL light has to work, we can care less if the rest of your cluster isn't working.

i had individual phantom gauges in my crx, i took the cluster out couple years back. but removed the gauges temporarily for smog, now when i wired the cluster back up color for color, it's all screwed up, i flick the high beam and the battery light comes on, vice versa with other oil, gas, etc...
Here's my setup..
B16 Engine with LSD Tranny 65' Millimeter
OBDI complete Wireharness conversion
Edelbrock throttle body
STR Fuel Rail with pressure regulator
Chipped Edelbrock Pr3 Ecu
JDM ITR Cams
JDM ITR Spring and Retainers
JDM ITR Header
Brand new 02 sensor
Brand new CAT
Skunk2 Intake Manifold
I even tried running seafoam and cleaning it out and putting new gas at 91 octane but still no good. I'm a newbie, help. First b16 engine so I don't know alot. Still learning.

I didn't think you were that modded up.
So you have the CARB numbers and or reciepts?
Set FPR to stock psi. However this alone could fail you just by having an AFPR.
Run 87 octane I know but just for the test. or at least 89.
If you can go back to a stock chip/ECU. again just for the test.
All your add-ons are legal but the cam is not. (don't mention it)
Do you have adj. timing gears? if so set them to 0
Timing - retard two degrees at most but it has to be exactly 2 degrees.
You have to think clean not performance. I even clean the air filter.
Do you have all the emissions stuff connected correctly?
That is all for now,

make sure your fuel psi is stock i think ists around 36-40 if i remember right you need a stock ecu , the chipped ecu is turning the fuel maps up , my car with a chipped ecu was making gross populter numbers . put the stock ecu in a new cat 87 octane and turned the timing back to 14 btc and passed on my da with gsr setup like yours ,Good luck

Carb number on everything that's needs to be carbed.
I just set the FPR this morning to stock.
I haven't run 87 before while testing smog, always 91. But I'll give that a shot on the next smog. ( DMV personnel offer a Car Disposal place for me to dispose the crx if i don't get it to pass smog after trying all these time.. just sad. )
In the process of looking for a stock Ecu. But I was told that will mess up my cams and other stuff on there already by running a stock Ecu. ( Was told by a guy that owns a b16 crx )
The timing has been adjusted but not quite 2 degrees on the dot.
Air filter is new.
Exhaust has brand new cat. No check engine light, car runs fine, idle fines, doesn't burn oil but can't pass Nox.
I will have to get back to you guys on the free try smog this weekend and let you know how it goes. ( Hope I find a stock ecu by then.)
Thanks for all the advices for now

no your setup will no be messed up with the stock ecu , type r cams are stock honda cams with a larger vtec lobes for more power over the stock 16a cams , all your chipped ecu is dumping alot of fuel bumping the maps up and turn the rev limiter up , a stock ecu alone should proably pass you or be close , let us know the results
I dont think I can help
but I could not resist giving myself props
I put a jdm d15b in my rx the orig cat still there
we have a hydrocarb limit of 222ppm in nashville
I scored 14ppm 3days after the 1st crank on the engine
the nxt year I got 18ppm
