Default Which Oil?

I just did an oil change today and started wondering if I should use another brand or weight of oil.

I use Valvoline 10w-30, I get it at Wal-mart for 7 bucks for a 5 quart, and I picked up a fram oil filter. My engine is a B16a with stock internals, only mods are I/E and a chiped ECU.

Just wondering what all of you use, what your opinion is.

10w-30 is a little thick, I would change to 5w-30 at your next change.

FYI, fram filters are known by many as "the orange can of death".

Hmm, I was told 10w-30 was the way to go, but acutally thought the same thing. I had never heard about the fram filters being bad, thought they were good.

Which brand of 5w-30 do you prefer along with filter?

Also just to throw in, I had thought the throw out bearing was going out, started to make a sound at certain RPMs, well when I went under my car today I seen that the heat shield covering the down pipe had cracked around the bolts and was partially hanging off, had my friend rev the motor and found out it was just rattleing as the engine shook from reving....

Thanks god that was alot easier of a fix!

Ive always used Mobile One syn or Castrol dino oil but Havoline, Valvoline, Pensoil are all good. Really any SM rated oil should be ok.

It all depends on where you live. I live in So cal and they recommend 10w-30. You would use 5w-30 if it is cooler there than cali which it probably is. And just use Honda oil filters

I am originally from Socal, 626 area. I live in Kansas because of the Army and thats why I used 10w-30, its hot here in the summer just like cali but freezes in the winter, will switch to 5w-30 next oil change for winter.
